Finished it. Was sad learning that the author killed himself, read two books of him, the other being Big trouble and he could sure tell a story. Heard little prior to reading this book about busing. To resume this book, I would say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Next book is Never read him before, have started picking up what I can find from him at the used bookstore, will start with this one, as the jacket says the first stories are a bit Orvellesque indeed, any other recommendations ?

We've Heard About Your Buying - What About Your Listening?
Van Basten II replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous Music
As long as I'm at home, and it's a reasonnable hour between 9 am and 9 PM and am not doing anything that requires me listening , like watching a movie or something along those lines, there is music on the background, I priorise my listening first by CDs I bought at used stored then stuff I bought new and when everything has been listened at least once, then it's miscellaneous stuff depending on my fancy. I don't use headphones and unfortunately at work I have to endure the crappy music radio repeating the same boring shit every day. -
How Would You Describe Your Music Collecting
Van Basten II replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Still roaming the used CD stores around my place, buy about 3 to 4 titles in average by week (it used to be around 7 to 8 titles a week !), without counting the titles I get from buying the web when there is a great deal around.(the only thing that prevents me from buying more are the silly shipping fees) Will on rare times buy music from new cd store if it's on sale, mostly pop music because Jazz music is rarely sold cheaply. My collection is all over the place, jazz remains the main constituent whether it is current or "old time" but other genres (French music, pop, rock, indie , country/folk World music and soundtracks) are about 50 % of the population. As I am getting older, have less and less interest for pop music but on the other hand I take more time in the World music section. I don't really have a have it all fetish, but if music is available at a good price I will pick it up. -
Needless to say that people here are going crazy .

Saw another fine gig with the David Binney quartet, gave a lot of playing time to his fine sidemen, check out drummer Dan Weiss ! Man, does Binney loves long pieces , he played 7 pieces that lasted more than two hours. Only negative was the sonorisation , little tip to those planning a trip to Montreal L'Astral is just not a great venue soundwise For those interested, there were tapers and you can find it if you want to look for it. -

Last thing I remember I was running for the door I had to find the passage back to the place I was before "Relax," said the night man, "We are programmed to receive You can check out any time you like but you can never leave" -
Have joined the rest of the Montreal civilisation watching the hockey game.

1. Are you sure these are legitimate emails sent through Facebook and not attempts to phish your personal info? 2. Can't you just filter these emails or report them as spam so they go into your spam folder in the future? Repeated, unwanted, unsolicited email is practically the definition of spam. Answer 1 It's possible, never cared to check them out Answer 2 This is exactly what I did. -

What bugs me is that despite never registering on it, I have people that I never heard of are asking me to join the site -
A very classy lady, a very classy singer and a very classy artist, thank you Lena.

Saw Cindy Blackman playing an hommage to Tony Williams called Another Lifetime. A bit too rock for my liking, ended up with damaged earing and a headache, as the sound was on the too strong side of things. -

I went out to see the PPV fight and it turns out that if I wanted to see one, I just had to read this board -
To the defense of mods, most boards have a rule of that effect, if you want to complain of a decision or a rule take it by pm or you get banned, I have to mention that those boards usually have a younger crowd than ours though.

Maybe the idea of Kate Smith and copulating was too much to take

Going to see Marcus Miller tonight featuring Christian Scott in a project called Tutu revisited. Just hope when I'll get out the city won't be burning -

Contrary to the first leg the score this time reflected the difference of quality between both teams, here's hoping for a Barça come back win, a Bayern-Inter would be a final devoided of rooting interest for yours truly. -
