  1. Don Heckman told me he wrote this article too:
  2. Is Ron McMaster his real name? Guy
  3. I'm guessing none exists, but I would love to hear it. Has anyone else besides Miles recorded this composition? edit: First off, Pharoah Sanders has probably caused me to mispell "pharaoh" for the rest of my life. Second, and more importantly, a big band version exists on this Bill Warfield album. I wonder what it sounds like! Guy
  4. Does anyone remember the Onion article from a few years back about the Insane Clown Posse getting grounded by their mom? Guy
  5. I'm more or less with Chris -- if people want to buy gas-guzzling cars, let 'em. We should penalize them more at the pump. Guy
  6. By mentioning my name you have already failed!muhahahaa!!!!! Guy
  7. Gotta respectfully disagree there! Maybe the Mavericks would be easier competition for Detroit, but I don't think the two best teams in the NBA would be competing, then... Compared to San Antonio, Dallas has played a lot better vs. Detroit. Guy
  8. Now this I want to hear. Guy
  9. Man, I love pickles. I got addicted to them at a very young age when I was growing up in Israel. In America my favorite pickles are the ones from Trader Joe's. I used to not like the Clausens but my opinion has changed over time. When I open up a pickle jar I usually devour about five or six which is probably really bad for me. Oh -- my grandmother pickles cucumbers and serves them as a salad. Probably the best pickles I've ever tasted! Guy
  10. I was wondering if anyone here had an extra disc 3 from the 11 CD Mozart Symphony set. Pinnock is the conductor. (I assume the record company will not do replacements.) If you can help out, PM me. I'm so pissed off at this ONKYO piece of junk. CDs have gotten jammed in it 3 times over the past six months and each time I've had to take it into repairs. This time it finally destroyed a CD, or maybe the repair people did. Guy
  11. Audrey bounced back pretty quickly as well. Guy
  12. probably "On Green Dolphin Street"
  13. That was such a good cliffhanger I almost forgot about that ridiculous sexual harrassment subplot! Guy ps It's a good thing CTU hires chemistry majors.
  14. There is apparently a pianist/vocalist named Mala Waldon! Guy
  15. Bob Berg/Tim Berne
  16. Good one. I mix up Gary Peacock, Paul Motian and Paul Bley. It's a good thing the latter two started playing with Charlie Haden at some point. Guy
  17. Which musicians get confused with each other in your mind? Mark Dresser/Drew Gress. Also Dave (?) Friesen, who I think is also a bassist Walter Bishop Jr./Walter Davis Jr. (or are these the same guy? I'm not sure) Anders Jormin/Arild Andersen Pat Metheny/Pat Martino Ron Blake/Ran Blake Von Freeman/Fred Anderson Dewey Redman/Dewey Johnson Clifford Jordan/Duke Jordan Leo Parker/Leon Parker Don Wilkerson/Ed Wilkerson Misha Mengelberg/Albert Mangelsdorff when I first got into jazz I thought Kenny G & Kenny Garrett were the same dude. I'll try to think of some more!
  18. I finally got this... very nice. Guy
  19. Yup. Williams joined Miles in May, this album was recorded in September. I have to say that I like One Step Beyond better than this album, both compositionally and performance-wise. "Love and Hate" is really nice, but the blues at the end is kinda ho hum. I haven't listened to this in a while -- looking forward to it. Guy
  20. Only 14 Ellington discs, only 1 Basie, only 4 Charlie Parkers & 4 Dizzy Gillespies, aside from Chuck's box only 2 AEoCs, only 3 Cecil Taylors, only 1 Paul Bley, only 2 Lee Konitz. No Louis Armstrong, no Art Pepper, no Carla Bley. Aside from some Ellington almost no pre-bebop jazz. Guy
  21. I like Procession better than all the post-Heavy Weather Jaco albums. Guy
  22. Whoops. Should have been clearer. I'd like to hear a remastering of the debut and IStBE (my import version of Live in Tokyo sounds great); I just don't see the point of a box set. Guy
  23. Why? These are all readily available already. Guy
  24. I've never been but hope to some day. It's supposed to be a cool place. Let us know about your trip when you get back. Guy
  25. Yup. Going back at least as far as Tijuana Moods. Guy
