  1. Audrey bounced back pretty quickly as well. Guy
  2. probably "On Green Dolphin Street"
  3. That was such a good cliffhanger I almost forgot about that ridiculous sexual harrassment subplot! Guy ps It's a good thing CTU hires chemistry majors.
  4. There is apparently a pianist/vocalist named Mala Waldon! Guy
  5. Bob Berg/Tim Berne
  6. Good one. I mix up Gary Peacock, Paul Motian and Paul Bley. It's a good thing the latter two started playing with Charlie Haden at some point. Guy
  7. Which musicians get confused with each other in your mind? Mark Dresser/Drew Gress. Also Dave (?) Friesen, who I think is also a bassist Walter Bishop Jr./Walter Davis Jr. (or are these the same guy? I'm not sure) Anders Jormin/Arild Andersen Pat Metheny/Pat Martino Ron Blake/Ran Blake Von Freeman/Fred Anderson Dewey Redman/Dewey Johnson Clifford Jordan/Duke Jordan Leo Parker/Leon Parker Don Wilkerson/Ed Wilkerson Misha Mengelberg/Albert Mangelsdorff when I first got into jazz I thought Kenny G & Kenny Garrett were the same dude. I'll try to think of some more!
  8. I finally got this... very nice. Guy
  9. Yup. Williams joined Miles in May, this album was recorded in September. I have to say that I like One Step Beyond better than this album, both compositionally and performance-wise. "Love and Hate" is really nice, but the blues at the end is kinda ho hum. I haven't listened to this in a while -- looking forward to it. Guy
  10. Only 14 Ellington discs, only 1 Basie, only 4 Charlie Parkers & 4 Dizzy Gillespies, aside from Chuck's box only 2 AEoCs, only 3 Cecil Taylors, only 1 Paul Bley, only 2 Lee Konitz. No Louis Armstrong, no Art Pepper, no Carla Bley. Aside from some Ellington almost no pre-bebop jazz. Guy
  11. I like Procession better than all the post-Heavy Weather Jaco albums. Guy
  12. Whoops. Should have been clearer. I'd like to hear a remastering of the debut and IStBE (my import version of Live in Tokyo sounds great); I just don't see the point of a box set. Guy
  13. Why? These are all readily available already. Guy
  14. I've never been but hope to some day. It's supposed to be a cool place. Let us know about your trip when you get back. Guy
  15. Yup. Going back at least as far as Tijuana Moods. Guy
  16. An even more important question is why all the video Ipods in the article show SNL skits. Not that I'm complaining. Guy
  17. These are all very nice. Guy
  18. Wow, that's an incredible deal. Guy
  19. Probably for the record company. Guy
  20. I just started to watch this show. Even funnier than I expected! Guy
  21. I'm guessing '69 rather than '68 -- there's only one known live recording from '68, and it's supposedly of very poor quality. Guy
  22. It's a real pity that the interview isn't in English, because I thought it was even more interesting than Tsahar's! Thanks, Barak. I thought it was really interesting that he was concerned about Jews taking offense at the playing of the shofar. Guy
  23. I picked this up a while back but only started listening to it today. It's not on the same level as the great Atlantics, but anyone who likes Ornette should definitely hear it. The rhythm section does a pretty good job even if they're not Charlie and Billy. Great playing by Ornette and Don, as well as some of Mr. Coleman's finest compositions. Ignore the one-star review on amazon. Ornette Coleman - Tomorrow Is The Question I guess I should look out for Somethin' Else too. Guy
  24. Jeez, I am so behind on RVGs. Hutch and Jackie are easily at the top of the want-list, but there are at least 4 or 5 other ones that I will have to pick up at some point. Guy
