  1. Oddly enough, one of the possible byproducts of global warming could be a shutdown of the "Atlantic conveyor belt" that brings tropical warmth to the seas around northern Europe. If that happens, London will get similar weather to Vladivostok and Scandinavia will become nearly uninhabitable. Guy
  2. Think of the upside, though -- Canada's going to become a much better place for surfing... Guy
  3. Yup. One warm winter isn't necessarily indicative of global warming. OTOH global temperatures have been on the rise in the recent past. Guy
  4. Listening to Joe for the first time, on In Full Cry. So far, I like! Guy
  5. My favorite of these is Paul Motian On Broadway, Vol. III , which adds Lee Konitz and Charlie Haden to Motian, Lovano, and Frisell. An excellent record that includes a great version of "Skylark." I haven't heard any of these albums, except for odd'n'end MP3s I downloaded. I guess I'll have to put them on the "to-buy" list. I think I prefer the trio without a bassist from what I've heard so far, though. Guy
  6. Alas, alldirect didn't have the Stenson in stock. Guy
  7. I think it's fair to say that some of the choices made by "Miles and his team" from 1970 to 1975 (including on Live Evil) were somewhat dubious. Guy
  8. Let's not get carried away. A global flu pandemic could be really bad, but it won't be the end of the world. Guy
  9. Paul Motian, Live at the Village Vanguard Bobo Stenson, War Orphans David Murray, Now Is Another Time Roscoe Mitchell, Sound Mozart, Piano Concertos (Bilson, Gardiner)
  10. The description is intriguing... Guy
  11. Same here. The spicy chicken sandwich is excellent. But... Until these guys get rid of trans fats, I ain't eating this crap. Guy
  12. Very rarely, but if I do go I get the grilled chicken sandwich. Guy
  13. As much as I like Dallas, I don't think they would beat the Pistons (or for that matter the Spurs) in a 7 game series. Guy
  14. The Warriors' record is deceptively strong. I'll be surprised if this team wins more than 36 games. Guy
  15. The performance of "Re: Person I Knew" on this album is really beautiful. Guy
  16. When Jarrett was planning his first recording for ECM, Manfred Eicher proposed a quartet album w/Chick Corea, Dave Holland & Gary Peacock. Guy
  17. I think you are confusing Colonel Warden (one of the participants in the sabotage mission) w/Colonel Nicholson (the POW commander). Guy
  18. Why did Colonel Warden shoot his own men? I recently watched this movie for the first time (and dug it a lot), but have a question about the ending. Near the end two guys get shot during the sabotage mission, and my presumption was that they were shot by the Japanese soldiers. But then all of a sudden Col. Warden says, "I had to shoot them, they could have talked." Was this intended to be a surprise or did I miss something important? Why did he shoot them, didn't he want the mission to succeed? Anyway, the movie is highly recommended to anyone who hasn't seen it. Guy
  19. Chuck, time for you to tune up your psychic powers, they are a little rusty. Guy
  20. Vroom and Vroom Vroom sounded better when they were titled "Red". Guy
  21. In general Cosey is the lead guitarist and Lucas does rhythm work, though Lucas takes a solo here or there if I'm not mistaken. Guy
  22. The 90s Crimson is probably my least favorite lineup, except maybe the Islands group. Adrian Belew wrote some really good songs ("Dinosaur", "One Time", "Walking on Air") but the instrumental stuff isn't that great. On the other hand I've been seriously digging ProjeKct Two's Space Groove. KC does In a Silent Way, sort of. Guy
