  1. Thanks for the kind words gang. I'm struggling to stay positive amid all the chaos, I don't give up easily.
  2. Hanging on by my fingernails. Working a job that doesn't pay nearly enough for me to live off of, considering bankruptcy to alleviate pressure, have major dental problems and no money to fix them, car is on it's last legs, etc. In a nutshell...I'm miserable and have to fight everyday to keep from walking out into traffic.

Jim swears there is something on side 4....
  4. NASCAR's popularity is more proof that the end of the world is near....
  5. Finally got around to watching this yesterday. I really enjoyed it, not a jaw-dropper..but good solid entertainment with above-average performances. The pacing was excellent, not often that a near 3 hour film cruises by this quickly. I like most of Marty's films, so I'm not sure where I would rank it in the grand scheme of things. I definitely enjoyed it more than most of his post-Good Fellas films. I thought DiCaprio was impressive.
  6. ...I always wondered how long it will be before Jim's living room collapses under the weight of his vinyl collection...
  7. The housewives are only desperate if their doctor's refuse to give them a refill.
  8. I'm a JIF guy myself.... (not to be confused with JPEG).
  9. One of my "non-jazz" friends can't tell the difference between Eric Dolphy & a goose...
  10. Not vouching for quality...but hard rock has TONS of anthems... We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister Cum On Feel The Noize - Slade/Quiet Riot Living After Midnight/You Got Another Thing Comin'/Hell Bent For Leather (and many more) - Judas Priest The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy Every Kiss song ever recorded....
  11. I wanted to give Rex the benefit of the doubt, but it's painfully obvious that he just wasn't up for the challenge. Great quarterbacks are able to make up for sloppy/uninspired play by the team...put the whole thing on their shoulders and have a chance to win the game. Rex doesn't have big enough shoulders, he played like a rookie...a sloppy rookie at that. He's got a great arm, but doesn't have the decision making to go with it. That's why I had hoped for ANY other NFC team to get in besides the Bears, I knew the Bears would get thrashed. A team with an actual offense (Saints, Seahawks) might have had at least a shot to score some points and make it a contest.
  12. I've got the riff from Boogie Stop Shuffle stuck in my head.
  13. I hope it's better than that "This is our country" song that's being played CONSTANTLY on commercials. That track is INSIPID garbage for flag-wavers and yellow-ribbon fanatics.
  14. Agreed, much ado about nothing (important).
  15. I've always been partial to "The Blue Yusef Lateef" myself.
  16. If some of these artists rake in some money that helps keep Blue Note afloat...fine by me. I wouldn't care if they signed Slayer...if it helped to fund some reissues.

He sure produced some magnificent sessions! I never knew about the album covers...that's quite a shock. What are some of the others?
  18. Colder than the proverbial witch's tit here in the eastern panhandle of hell (WV).
  19. What Jim said... May I ask who has the "right" to define whether something is a "jazz style" or not? Fucking idiots.
  20. Been listening to this one non-stop for about a week, LOVE it! I agree that Rollins & Broom are a wonderful combination.

I definitely can't agree with that view of Tyner. Maybe if you compare him "now"...but not during the late 60's into the 70's. Far from ordinary I would say.
  22. DRM is commonly used by sites that allow unlimited downloading/streaming of their entire catalog but burning is disabled without purchase of the tracks. Aside from iTunes, most sites use WMA files (or Real Audio in some cases). The DRM can also block the track from being transferred to a portable device. Unfortunately I worked as a Program Manager for one of those services for a couple years...and the DRM technology is "Twitchy" at best. I left with little faith in the technology.
