  1. I like the title "Doin' Time at the Junkie Label".
  2. Another classic from "The Sangrinator"
  3. Up. Added 5 titles.
  4. I would also use the term cult classic to describe this film. Jim is correct that it's fairly sloppy in it's execution (although the insane cutting by the movie studio is partially to blame) and not all of the actors are up to snuff. I like the movie for it's atmosphere and because it tried to do something that most people wouldn't even attempt to tackle (at least at the time). People still classify this as a horror film which is innacurate...you could almost call it "anti-horror". As for Alexander's comment...I thought it was hilarious. So burn me at the stake! LOL
  5. Tyrone Washington - The TRAINWRECK Donald Byrd - Pinto! Donald Byrd - The Cat Box Lou Donaldson - Everything I Wear Is Funky! (broken washing machine remix) Grant Green - The Bottom Of The Barrel (original title of First Session) Andrew Hill - Sinking Ships Hank Mobley - No Room For Parallelograms Jimmy Smith - Home Grown Big John Patton - Blue Balls Horace Silver - The Godzilla Blues Stanley Turrentine - Gets 'Em Wet
  6. OH MY GOD!!!!!! This gets my "Thread Of The Year" award...
  7. If I don't get a better paying job soon...I'll sell ya mine!
  8. Yep...needless to day I WON'T be using that particular location again. I'll drive the 5 miles into town...
  9. The local post office (which is definitely dark ages) returned a batch of discs I had mailed out...for no reason that they can figure out. So I am re-sending them today. I apologize for the inconvenience, Shawn
  10. You know who I feel sorry for? Romo. This guy gets thrown directly to the sharks, with no offensive line to protect him, a bunch of ego-hungry recievers whining for the ball and I'm sure that as soon as he makes a few mistakes...he'll get benched and Bledsoe will be back. It's going to take a miracle for the Cowboys to get into the post-season this year. Too many other good teams out there.
  11. A set I highly recommend: The classic Hammer "re-imaginings" of the Universal cycle, quite risque when released...not very shocking by today's standards, but still skillful and VERY entertaining. Perfect balance of suspense and dry British wit. Curse Of Frankenstein - the film that started it all. Cushing is perfect as the doc and Lee's monster (which looks like walking road kill) is convincing and very sympathetic. The secondary "romantic leads" are a bit of a distraction..but thankfully they have minimal screen time. Horror Of Dracula - the cream of the crop. Lee became forever etched in our brains as Dracula thanks to this movie and it's many sequels. No wonder...he ROCKS in the part. Fast paced script makes liberal changes to the Stoker novel...but you won't care because it's too much fun while it's rollin' along. Cushing is dynamite here, balancing his character with liberal doses of humor. The Mummy - a favorite from childhood. Cushing is the archeologist...Lee is the resurrected (and highly pissed off) dude in bandages. Make some popcorn and enjoy. The included sequels are high quality as well. Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed is the best, crackerjack horror flick dealing with body swapping. Taste The Blood of Dracula & Dracula Has Risen From The Grave are both well made though suffering from less than stellar screenplays (though Lee makes them worthwhile).
  12. This is an essential set, whether you're a fan of the macabre or not. These films were a training ground for immense talent (Jacques Tourneur, Robert Wise, etc), offered GREAT roles to a couple of the most mis-used actors of the era (Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi) and were immaculate in all other areas as well. Far from B-Movie quality as you can get...these were art house films before the art house existed. The cinematography on films like I Walked.. and The Leopard Man is amazing considering the non-existent budget. Don't let the titles fool you either... Curse Of The Cat People is a touching little fantasy film, perfect for Sunday afternoon watching with the family. I Walked With A Zombie is a variation on Jane Eyre. Bedlam is a historical drama. Isle Of The Dead is a wonderful examination of superstition and paranoia brought on by the horrors of war. The Seventh Victim is easily the first "mature" look at satanic cults. Highly recommended.

  15. Nope, I'm in the process of saving up for an apartment...I'm using the disc sale money to keep from starving.
  16. up with additions
  17. Watched the highlights show on NFL network this morning. The Bengals got ROBBED...how in the f*ck can you call a roughing the passer penalty on a sack?? Marvin Lewis said that he guessed you had to "cuddle them to the ground" now. I'm sick of this "protect the wimpy quarterback because he might break a nail" method of officiating. IT'S FOOTBALL!!
  18. While I don't need any of the cds, I will take an 8x10 of your avitar! Mark~ She's a Goddess alright....and she can act too!
  19. Added Duke Jordan's Flight To Jordan.
  20. All prices include shipping in the U.S. All titles in excellent condition unless noted. Art Blakey - A Night In Tunisia - RCA (Bluebird First Editions) - $8 Jackie McLean - A Fickle Sonance (RVG) - $6 Andrew Hill - Point Of Departure (RVG) - $6 PayPal preferred. Thanks! Shawn
  21. Nail-biter games all day today! This is why I love Free Agency...no more situations where you have 4 good teams and all the rest suck. Wish they had this kind of parity in place YEARS ago. How about them Saints!!! 5-1 baby. Oh Yeah...the Seahawk's demise has been widely discussed all week. Guess the "experts" didn't see them scoring 23 points in the second half and winning with 4 seconds left on the clock...
  22. Frank Wess is one seriously underrated cat. I saw him once during the annual Seattle jazz festival, he sat in with Hank Crawford & Jimmy McGriff at Jazz Alley...it was sublime.
  23. Well..at least with the Ayler recordings...even if you accidentally buy it again, it's still worth it!
  24. On hold. That was FAST!
