  1. Dr Feelgood ————-Malpractice———(Grand) wonderful pub-rock by Canvey Islands best including at this point ( 1975) the legend that is Wilko Johnson.
  2. Harold Land/ Blue Mitchell-----------Mapenzi------------(Concord) I've not played this in a while and I'm impressed all over again. Besides the co-leaders Kirk Lightsey is pretty phenomenal on the piano but then again Albert Tootie propels things along more than nicely. Excellent date (1977 release)
  3. Mines on the way, can't wait.
  4. Duke Ellington ———Unknown session ——-(CBS)
  5. Great music but it’s marred by incorrect track listing and erroneous personnel information. NP Lee Konitiz ——-Spirits———(Milestone)
  6. I’d like to say yes but that’s not a realistic prospect.
  7. I know what you mean about the tone arm wobble as you set it down. I’ve found if you don’t hurry there’s really no problem. It’s much less hassle than my WTA. ( drive belt snapped frequently and was a major PITA to refit. I think I’ll be fine with my VPI
  8. I replaced my Well Tempered Amadeus with a VPI Prime. I have been struggling to change speeds on the WTA. I only wanted a parallel shift (to something easier to use ) but wound up with a TTthat sounds many leagues better.
  9. Jackie McLean———-A fickle sonance——-(BN Toshiba) A great set sounding better than ever courtesy of my new ( to me ) TT. Must did out other Toshibas and re-evaluate them too.
  10. Lou Levy---------The kid's got ears--------(Jazzizz Records) very fine Ines trio from the master with Shelly Manne and John Heard. Undeserving to be so obscure. Great record. Levy always seems fresh and vital. Like my favourite Martial Solal I've never come across a release that was less than interesting.
  11. I really like the album but not the cover art which has no apparent relationship to the music
  12. Ronnie Ross————Double Event———(Parlophone) June 1958 hot UK hardbop date from June 1958. Andy White on drums just a few years before his famous brief role with the Beatles
  13. Grateful Dead——— Veneta Oregon 1972——-(Rhino) LP4
  14. Joyous music, possibly my favourite Roscoe but then again there so many I love
  15. Sorry to disappoint, my copy is a recent reissue. The music strikes me as highly original. Much as I love Lars Gullin the music here sounds both strikingly and obviously Scandinavia. Not bad for £4 from Fopp!
  16. Esa Pethman ————The modern sound of Finland , the music of Esa Pethman———(Warner Finland)
  17. Oddly I probably play the Duke Pearson most often but I'd put the Andrew Hill as the most significant release in the series. Pendulum was the one that surprised me the most. I guess I'd an uniformed view that Liebman wasn't too great and wasn't expecting the set to be as good as it is. Since getting and digging the Pendulum set he has risen massively in my estimation. My error not his.
  18. Sonny Rollins-----------Freedom Suite--------(Riverside Interdisc UK) then Bernard Peiffer-----Plays Cole Porter's Can-Can--------(Top Rank UK)
  19. Happy Birthday💥⚡️✨
  20. I wish Sonny well, he's be generous with sharing so much great music with us.
  21. Good to hear that the film is coming out soon. It's been years as I recall in the making. TC is close to my heart having been very moved by a concert I attended at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival (1992?) Thomas' image from one of my photos from the gig has been my avatar here for pretty much all of my time as a member of this board.
  22. Not good, if that's typical of the business I can see why so many artists/labels sell direct. Postal rates, poor exchange rate, import taxes and high handling charges meant that last time i ordered direct from the US it wound up costing me around £28 per CD. That's around 33 US dollars !! Looks like Jazzmessengers etc will be by route of choice for now.
  23. I really dislike Proper boxes. Discographical information is vague and misleading. Sessions incomplete and poor liner notes. Oh and even if legal I consider them dodgy. I generally avoid these PD labels.
  24. Superb date, the Sam Records LP reissue is immaculate and has great sound.
  25. Thelonious Monk---Monks Music ------(Riverside interdisc ) Desert island music for me 🌴🌴
