  1. I just picked up the Live in London DVD and have been thoroughly enjoying it. Really an engaging performer.
  2. Good game tonight between Denver and SD. That last Denver touchdown was a close call. I thought he didn't get in, but who knows. Denver undefeated in a "rebuilding" year! Whodathunk? Also, who'd have thought the undefeated teams at this point would be Denver, Indy, Minnesota and Nawlins? It's a crazy world.
  3. Congrats, Ed. He sounds like a great kid. I hope he has a great time in the band!
  4. I heard about this over the weekend. If there is already a thread let me know. Tony was in Corpus Christi for a performance- he apparently fell in the hotel and hit his head hard on the floor. He was rushed to the hospital and had surgery to ease pressure on his brain. The latest I've heard is that he seems to be out of immediate danger but there is likely fairly significant damage that may limit the extent of his recovery. I've known Tony for a long time going back to my Austin days. He is a very talented artist and beloved by all who know him. This is unbelievably sad news and I am hoping for the best. Please keep Tony in your thoughts and prayers. FYI, he does have a fan page on Facebook where there have been updates on his condition.
  5. 59-0?? WTF is going on with the Titans?
  6. Just got back from a long weekend out of town, so apologies for being late to say: Congratulations to the whole Alfredson family! Them's a lot o' girls you got there, Jim.
  7. Make that thrice nice!
  8. I've got a bunch of stuff on the walls of my studio at school, mostly framed posters of Miles, Dizzy, Monk, Trane, Bird and Duke, plus the Great Day in Harlem poster and a mounted copy of Sonny's Way Out West record cover. I've gotten quite a few things over the years from Allposters.com- I usually wait until they have sales. They have some nice gig posters for Miles, Duke, Pops, Basie, Trane etc. I'm surrounded by the cats! I also picked up one of those 7" books of Blue Note covers and covered my office door with them. Quite a conversation piece. Some nice stuff y'all have!
  9. Broncos beat the Pats in OT! Whodathunk?
  10. I had the opportunity to hear Steve Wilson play the crap out of Ask Me Now tonight. Nice.
  11. Well, Florida won, no surprise. Iowa won, a little bit of a surprise (they were lucky Michigan didn't complete that last pass and kick a field goal). Texas won, no surprise. Florida State lost, no surprise. Iowa goes to Ohio State on November 14th. That might be interesting.......
  12. Going back and forth between the Iowa/Michigan and Florida/LSU. Don't have a rooting interest but enjoying them. I forgot Texas/Colorado. That's turned out to be more of a game than I thought it would be. I have to root for my Longhorns since I went to grad school there!
  13. I just bet you would!
  14. Snow up north but it's hot and humid as hell here. I really hate this effin' weather.
  15. Three games to follow tonight- Iowa/Michigan, Florida/LSU and Florida State/Georgia Tech. I think we'll see if Iowa is really any good tonight. They squeaked out a couple wins so far, I think Michigan will come to play. It will be interesting to see if and how well Teboe plays. I don't really care much about the FSU game but will probably check in from time to time.
  16. Every day, as I learn more about music, I appreciate Monk more. What a great way to spend the weekend, checking out your favorite and/or rediscovered Monk sides! HBTM!
  17. Thanks for posting that.......it is creepy, no? C'mon, it's Friday night! Pour yourself a single malt or something!
  18. Night off tonight- grilling chicken, asparagus & corn. Plus several drinks.
  19. Anyone see that new Tabasco commercial with the singing pepperoni? Totally creepy.
  20. Nice! Those are all great covers. Thanks Chas!
