The Classics Pete Brown is very hard to get...
Try your luck with that Progressive CD (with Jonah Jones):
Pete Brown is on several sessions of the Frankie Newton 1937-1939 Classics (probably also hard to get):
Even harder to get (probably) is his Verve album 'From the Heart' recorded in 1959 (and not really his best!)
Prestige on rare occasions changed the cover of albums.
The original cover of Coltrane's 'Traneing In', at left, (Mark Rice design), was replaced by the other one (Esmond Edwards photo):
Almost happened - Student Studies 1966 recording on BYG Japan and later on Affinity. Taylor - Silva -Cyrille with Jimmy Lyons added to the mix.
I heard that trio configuration on a number of occasions when I was allowed to attend rehearsals by the CT Unit for several weeks when they came to Paris in 1966 (including at the Maison de l'ORTF concert where Student/Studies was recorded and illegally released by the Byg crooks!).
The trio configuration was Great indeed but the music came to full bloom when Jimmy Lyons joined in! Then it became Magic!
Out later this month

The RLR release 'Miles Davis Unissued 1956/57 Paris Broadcasts' has more from that Olympia concert (plus a couple of unissued broadcasts from the Cafe Bohemia broadcasts by the Miles Davis quintet with Sonny Rollins:
I had the Japanese PacificJazz vinyl from the Toshiba EMI Collectors Series in decent sound until the RVG edition came out. It's how I want to hear the album now!
Indeed, looks much more like Jackie Battle.
Here is Miles with Betty Mabry, at left, and Jackie Battle at the funeral of Jimi Hendrix in Seattle October 1, 1970.
