So can I get that Pick a Number From One To Ten cover now? Seriously, nice work, John!

Alexander! You're alive! And you came to Florida and didn't give me a buzz ... for shame. I'm in!

The same applies to the album of the week. Yes, but I would venture a guess that familiarity with artists is generally far greater than familiarity with specific recordings. So, starting a Gene Harris thread might get more responses than starting a Gene Harris, Nature's Way thread. So, for a decent level of participation, Albums of the Week have to be at least somewhat well known, while most people have at least heard names.

I don't know if an Artist of the Week is necessary. Frankly, I think that people should just start threads about artists they like/underappreciated artists whenever the mood strikes. If I want to start a discussion of Gene Harris, I have to wait til its my turn? That's kind of silly. I think the purpose of the Artists forum is just this sort of discussion which ought to be free-wheeling and totally ad hoc. In my opinion, of course.

The Man taking all my money...Dan Gould replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political Sorry to hear about this, Jim. Since the IRS backed off after something of a public outcry and a Congressional pummelling or two, it looks to me like this is the sort of thing that ought to get publicized and reduced by the state legislature. I would definitely get in touch with my state representatives and raise a stink, maybe something can be done so that they aren't such a-holes in the future.

I totally agree, Marcus. I saw this band at the Blue Note, on a Monday night one-off, only Grenadier wasn't on the gig, it was the bassist that I think Tony Williams used toward the end, with Mulgrew Miller. Anyway, a very nice set, I particularly enjoy the covers of the Rouse and Jordan tunes, "Pumpkin" and "Highest Mountain," respectively, I even didn't mind the fact that Moore plays a bit of soprano, if I recall correctly. Definitely OOP, though I think I saw it at that Barnes and Noble Concord sale last time. Worth a search.

That's the way its been done in the past, though I think some of the newer members are confused by the different method used for the blindfold test.

Especially the Lynde line about chiffon and hell's angels.

Well, what shall we do? I propose that we give Alex until Friday, March 12. If he hasn't stepped up to fulfill his responsibilities, we solicit the next couple of members to see if they can step in, and when Alex is ready, he slips back into the list.

Valuation of Mosaic CollectionDan Gould replied to jazzmantom2004's topic in Offering and Looking For... One way to judge the current market is to search by "Mosaic" and "completed items" on ebay. Then you can see where the market is at the present time, at least over the last 30 days, which is as long as ebay keeps completed auctions in the public database. I don't quite understand this statement: Isn't that exactly the way it should work, pricing following demand?

Need some comedy for a road tripDan Gould replied to Big Al's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political I guess Andrew Dice Clay is out then ... though I always laugh at his version of "Jack and Jill went up the hill"

Where it was recorded? I don't recall and its packed up at the moment. But it was Dex backed by an obscure rhythm section, somewhere in Scandinavia, I believe.

In addition to the above listed MIAs, how about CCR?

Fights are one thing. Premeditated assaults, like the earlier stick swinging hit, is criminal and ought to result in prison time.

no thread on The Passion yet???Dan Gould replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political Funny stuff, Ray, thanks for posting it. I don't think I saw the Steve Martin thing.

Gee, and I thought my copy of Dexter Gordon's "All Souls", a private pressing of 500 of a live recording, qualified here. Guess not.

Oh, and all your disappointment and disgust hasn't colored your view, Chris? 34 failed LPs haven't made you slightly biased against Wynton? After everything you've said about him and his music and everything else, I have a hard time believing that you listen to every new release with completely fresh ears.

Storyville Videos On Sale @ Allegro.comDan Gould replied to JSngry's topic in Offering and Looking For... Yeah, with our equity, I might manage a couple of videos, but no Dusty Groove (the bastards!)!

Storyville Videos On Sale @ Allegro.comDan Gould replied to JSngry's topic in Offering and Looking For... And I had to go buy a house and watch my music budget go to zero ...

I don't know if they are all hybrids or not. I picked up the Higgins releases at one of his concerts, he contributed a deskfull of CDs as a fund raiser for the jazz society and it didn't occur to me to even look. Of course, I do expect that it will play right on my regular CD changer, which is fortunately now going to be used in the new media room. And I guess $20 is pretty good, since Cadence sells Venus for the same price and I'd have to pay for shipping.

Funny though how its "Blue Note" but none of them are Blue Note releases. Another thumbs up on the Vi Redd.

try gemm.com, or amazon. Amazon tends to have the OOP CDs, used, through their affiliated sellers. At least I think they do. Gemm, be very careful because a lot of sellers simply list everything, and their ability to get "special orders" is even less than Tower, and the difference is, they may charge your credit card in the meantime. Not worth the hassle, so check the seller's feedback and also whether they have things in stock in the first place. If you're interested in Japanese pressings (I'm not sure what's in print at the moment) try Mr. Tanno at early records. http://www.earlyrecords.com You can get his e-mail from the site, and if its in print in Japan, he can locate it.

I sent an e-mail, too, Mike, so he should definitely get the message. I noticed that he last posted on the 8th, so he hasn't been back since I started the thread. Hopefully he's ready, or someone can step up.

	Up once again for Alexander!

Weizen, The other one is solo piano. I picked them both up but was annoyed to discover that: A. They were SACD discs B. Our new DVD/CD/CDR changer won't play them, and the other CD player is packed up for the big move. And now, in fact, the CDs are packed up, too, so a month later and I can't report on either one. However, I can report that the cover for the solo CD is quite nice:
