  1. Jon Hassell's Power Spot
  2. This is probably my favorite record with Randy Brecker on it.
  3. WIlson Orchestra's Portraits. Maybe my favorite album with Joe Pass on it.
  4. Long time no listen:
  5. First some Keith Hudson: Then some Sam Cooke:
  6. Played disc 2 of this recently and stand by it being a good entry point for JR's music. Commercial trappings aside, the solos are what I stay for. It's the only thing in my collection with Seldon Powell as well. Probably something I should remedy.
  7. Clifford Jordan's big band album from 1990/1991.
  8. Damn. Well, guess the Jazz Dick be swingin' 🙊 ☠️
  9. Best dollar bin find I've ever made. Great party record even today
  10. Weird. It seemed like the more it was reported the higher rate of submissions came in.
  11. Raising her right! I need to pick this up. Likely go for a CD or LP of it. One of the Patton sessions I'm missing.
  12. Calling card of a genius, no matter the subject. RIP
  13. Nice find. From where I sit that's pretty obscure. Discogs has the original LP issue with the 90s CD as the only other release.
  14. Oh snap - from this album then?
  15. Nice. They performed Shark Attack on one of the US late night shows back in the early 90s. Loved that they got the exposure they deserve.
  16. If it's Red then it could be Jimmy Rowles on piano there as well.
  17. I don't. But the bassist is vocalizing a bit while soloing. That has to be a tell but I can't figure it out
  18. Oh man, perfect smooth jazz vehicle. Beastie Boys via the Dust Brothers used Those Shoes to really good effect for High Planes Drifter.
  19. RTF is the album title. This is more laid back than RTF the band. I have it on CD but the 23-minute B side of Sometime Ago - La Fiesta must have been something on vinyl back in the day.
  20. I didn't really like Frey's You Belong to the City back in the day but when I hear it now I definitely miss how 80s pop would feature sax playing and solos. Always an indicator of that decade. I don't hate the Eagles or the solo efforts but I don't play them either. Nonoffensive radio fodder really. A friend of mine loathes them and it cracks me up
  21. Metheny's Rejoicing Corea's Return to Forever. ECM in the late afternoon
  22. I could be way off base but it really sounds like them. Cohesive, serving the song and a lot of expression from each.
  23. Milt's The Prophet Speaks. Good album
