  1. "Portrait of Louis Armstrong"? Were you thinking of Cootie Williams? First time I've heard it... just picked it up at that Corner Record Shop in GR. Thanks for sharing your addiction...
  2. Duke Ellington - New Orleans Suite
  3. :rmad: :rmad: Oh, thanks so much. Dude, that kinda crap belongs in this thread!
  4. Extremely cool pictures. Wish I could have been there! Please don't ban me!
  5. I'll wait for the Don Henley/Allison Krauss duet record.
  6. Almost anything by Cecil Taylor... but, it was a good friend that introduced me to Cecil, so maybe that rule doesn't always apply!
  7. Count Basie - America's #1 Band: The Columbia Years, disc #2.
  8. "Deal with it or ignore him": well said, and good advice, Al. (and for the record, I enjoy (most of) Clem's posts -- the ones I understand, anyway... )
  9. That's one I'll be searching the used bins for... Spinning right now: The Earl Hines Time/Life box. Also nice!
  10. Circle - Paris Concert (ECM)
  11. I'd be far more impressed if the web looked like Jesus.
  12. Since you didn't specifically mention your support for the RIAA, we'll have to assume that you are in non-compliance with all rules and regulations regarding the use of digitally-encoded music files. Your subpeona will be forthcoming.
  13. Jazz Talk Tent Events 6:30 — 7:45pm: Blues Towns: Detroit / Chicago – PANEL DISCUSSION Bob Porter, Bob Koester, Larry McCray, Robert Jones
  14. A few summers back, I was in one of Mr. Baker's music theory classes at the Aebersold camp. His "passion for music education" was quite obvious -- the class was quite memorable, and a lot of fun as well. He spent a lot of time talking about bebop in particular, and gave us many specific musical examples to illustrate his points. No tired and blasé students that time!
  15. Been on a Vijay Iyer/Rudresh Mahanthappa kick lately... both of these records are sounding pretty darn good to me...
  16. Don't know what to say other than that which has already been said... Sorry for your loss -- I've always been a "cat person"... and I know how tough it can be.
  17. Left over from last year, or ready for it to snow in Cleveland? drinking right now: wine from a box... not too bad!
  18. Skid thanks Aloc for posting this... tuning in now!
  19. You mean the cranky old guy part, right? I heard a rumor that Chuck will be the cranky old guy for free!!
  20. I don't listen to the commentaries much either, but I learned all kinds of interesting facts on the Godfather and Godfather Part II tracks (commentary by Francis Ford Coppola). The severed horse’s head was real!
  21. I admire Matthew's bravery: Wham?? I've always had a soft spot for George Michael's Careless Whisper, cheesy sax solo not withstanding. As far as a "pop" song goes, it really stands up well after almost 25 years.
  22. Saw the one and only Randissimo tonight, in a slightly different context than usual: playing with Sweet Japonic. Great show, out on the deck, perfect weather, cold beer.
