  1. I'm pretty sure I saw this on a DMG newsletter as a new release sometime last spring.
  2. sure, he may be a douche (who cares?), but I find myself listening to Always Let Me Go and Personal Mountains a lot, at least monthly over the past year or so. I'm unable to analyze the music like Jim and others here, but, I like it.
  3. Do you see much discussion of his music in this thread after the initial post? Was the article supposed to spark discussion? Or was it more likely to confirm that dastardly opinion "he's a pretentious twat"? I didn't see a post that's supposed to spark a musical discussion, and if you want to read nothing but positive views of Jarrett, perhaps keithjarrett.com has a discussion board. But if you think the moderators on AAJ, Harlem.org or the Hoffman forums are tough, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Oh, alright then. Do you see much discussion of his music in ANY thread about him?
  4. Do you see much discussion of his music in this thread after the initial post?
  5. Me too. Why even bother bringing it up anymore- yeah, I get it, the vocalizations are annoying to people who let it bother them. I read it in every thread about him, as every one of them always get pushed down that road by the usual suspects.
  6. wow, it took 12 whole posts before the first one whining about the whining!
  7. anything that supports the Arts is good. Whether a full Cabinet position is neccessary, I don't know, but something official should exist
  8. I agree. When I first moved here I was amazed at how fast things were actually delivered to me. Less than a week from California? Unheard of in Canada.
  9. pretty amazing seeing it "docked", as it is now, in some of the pictures. must have been an incredible sight to see in person
  10. Happy birthday!
  11. get the biggest capacity hard drive you can afford. My 30GB iPod is jammed full and it's a bit of a pain to have to change albums out every few days
  12. Wow! Where did you pick this up for $19? I got it at Borders for about that (I think I had a 20% coupon)
  13. If it weren't for my kids' love of channels such as Noggin, Sprout, Nick and Disney and my wife's love of HGTV, Style, etc. I would have gone with just antenna and no cable years ago! Even the sound seems better on antenna-HDTV.
  14. make sure you try an antenna for over the air HD broadcasts, too. The over the air signals are uncompressed (unlike cable) and it's free. Of course, if you already have cable or satellite, that last point doesn't matter much, but the picture does look nice with a decent antenna.
  15. Read the fine print, though. There are some metro areas listed where the sale is not taking place.
  16. I agree. I also love the music on Drowning Witch (especially the title song and I Come from Nowhere). Awesome playing.

    Anthony Braxton

I could (and sometimes do) blow my whole music buying budget on Braxton. I can't keep up! I would really like to get the Moscow (Leo) and the 6-disc standards set, and if I could afford it I would get that 9-disc piano set.
  18. You only have 1/31 to earn the points; you have until the end of April to redeem them.
  19. I hope the ECM Touchstones make it to BMG before they shut down. Anyone recommend that new Charlie Haden disc?
  20. Thanks Chris. Same to you
  21. You're welcome! More than just the code may be expiring before long though. Somebody on the SH Forum just commented that BMG is no longer accepting new members as of today. Their website is suggesting that people go check out Yourmusic instead. I wonder how much longer BMG/Yourmusic has. I've had the BMG site bookmarked for years, but today it suddenly started redirecting me to yourmusic. I had to type in the web address of BMG music service just to pay my bill.
  22. One Shot Deal, Imaginary Diseases, Wazoo, The Grand Wazoo
  23. I love this weather. it's about 8 degrees here with strong winds and blowing snow.
  24. Well, so much for BMG's e-mail notification; I guess you sign up to receive an e-mail when a title arrives, but then they don't tell you. I just ordered the Clark, Mobley, and Turrentine thanks to seeing them listed here. The email notices seem to come the next day. (it could be all the spam controls) I got the email for these on Monday, and I quit yourmusic 2 years ago!
  25. Oatmeal. The low sugar kind you get at Whole Foods.
