  1. Read it as you wish, Dan.
  2. "Maybe he's still working on it." No he isn't.
  3. Isn't it time for a new Blue Train?
  4. And how does the Dutch cd fit in? It's in genuine stereo and good sound (a bit low on the bass side but it's the 50's).
  5. To further complicate matters......I have a Dutch issued CD which has also material from the US State Department Jazz Orchestra from 1957. Here's the track listing with soloists give: OD 001 DIZZY GILLESPIE and his US State Department Jazz Orchestra 1. Dizzy's Business (Ernie Wilkins, arr. Wilkins) soloists: Gillespie, Ernie Henry (as) 2. Announcement by Gillespie 3. Night in Tunisia (Gillespie, arr. Q. 6. CD Universe makes some sort of "Joke" with this listing.... http://www.cduniverse.com/sresult.asp?HT_S...p;altsearch=yes Note the "starring" line underneath the main listing of Cool Breeze" CD which they list as 1967 by the way.
  7. BruceM: don't get confused by the 2 stories. The Universal story about the SHM-CD is not for the Warner reissues which are posponed. They are also newly remastered so should sound better than before but they don't utilize the SHM-CD procedure.
  8. Just to let you know (and you're not going to search for it) the Plugged Nickel set wasn't in the series and thus not issued with a metal spine (just regular jewel cases in a carton box).
  9. Stefan is spot on but that's a different matter. Dan: all I know is the business has to better than it is right now. The 3 Sounds set is something MC is trying to get out for a long time already but the music industy isn't helping. As soon as it's possible (money wise) to do it it will be done.
  10. There will be a Mosaic set or select with 3 Sounds material at some stage so not issuing single cd's makes sense money wise for Mosaic!!!!
  11. Are the Montreux Arista LP's stereo? I believe my CD is mono. And I guess the track must have been edited to fit it all onto 1 cd.
  12. Anyone with more news????
  13. Bertrand: which is the Moncur composition? I have a Japanese CD with the "Complete Montreux" set. There are no composers listed. The Donald Duck track is 7.30 approx.
  14. Good to hear more people like Caiman. I've had no problems with them either. When a cd is damaged they replace it without questions asked and I don't even have to send the damaged one back....!!!!
  15. Same goes for Lyrita (an English high quality classical music label). They've restarted operation and the issues are also CD-r'ish. Official papaerwork and printing on the label side of the cd but green data side. Nothing to get upset about. I'm sure they will last a lifetime as well (when stored propperly, ie no direct sunlight).
  16. Is this the same Legrand in Rio which was just reissued in Japan on a Sony/Columbia CD (which I sold instantly because I hated it, corny and very dated to my ears)?
  17. The Montreux set is not in the box and has 3 extra tracks not on earlier reissues (not even in Japan).
  18. Hey that's not nice....this is supposed to be Hans' posting!!!
  19. Lonehill issue, which pretty much says it all.....
  20. OK but do you buy it??
  21. The Alexander and Shearing boxes are being pushed forward again and again (release date that is).....
  22. Again a useless compilation unless you don't have anything he plays on. But then the casual jazz listener isn't going to buy this either.......And the record comanies blame us for not buying cd's......MNaybe they should try to find out what we want on cd and that'a not this kind of cd sets (IMO).
  23. I just did!!!! http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcartonsle...1QQfsooZ1QQrdZ0?
  24. It's going to be a Universal set for the EU market as well (the Quincy that is).
  25. yes but that's because we (yuropeans) didn't like the colors at that time.....
