  1. Hello all, just finished listening to this wonderful cd. If you're into small goup Basie this is the cd for you. Great solo's and arrangements. Overall nice smooth swing feel (what's new with Jo Jones). Great sound to match the spirit of the date. Juddo's to Jerry of Mighty Quinn to get this on cd. Recommended!!!!!
  2. Complete Kenny Cox Blue Note recordings. By far the best of his output is on the first disc.
  3. Possum Head even had a more recent reissue in Japan (http://www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail/1442396) and still available. Signifyin' seems to be OOP.
  4. He (Lee) doesn't play on Popi so a useless discussion.
  5. Yes it's him. I recognise his picture. Poor students who have to "learn" something from him.
  6. Saw him at the The Hague JAzz Festival last friday and kinda liked his playing. Only the drummer (don't know his name) ruined the date for me. Stiff and not up to the other 2's standards imo.
  7. next list as in just released? see www.concordmusicgroup.com.
  8. Yep but I didn't play it yet.....
  9. yes you should have with Roy Hayne!!!!!
  10. If I would have nothing of the symphonies here's a recommendation: mid-priced: Haitink with the RCO and LPO orchestras on DECCA/LONDON or Ashkenazy with the RPO and St.Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra's also on DECCA/LONDON (this set is about to be reissued, or did recently). mid to bargain priced: Jansons with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Pittsburgh Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Wiener & Berliner Philharmoniker's on EMI. bargain priced: Barshai with the WDR Sinfonierchester Köln on Brilliant Classics.
  11. 5 new titles are sceduled for a late june release. Some Reiner CSO (Strauss and Mahler), Rubinstein (Saint-Saëns/Liszt/Franck), Van Cliburn (Beethoven/Schumann) and one I forgot.
  12. Just got back from Milan (Italy) where I saw the Pres box and the JATP 1944-1949 box reissued by Universal Italy in regular double jewel cases boxes for a nice price (believe the Pres was euro 60). This might be an option for those who want the music and don't care about the original packaging.
  13. There won't be anymore Miles LP sets so you all can spend your money on the Roach!!!
  14. read.....there is nothing to work out.
  15. What a nonsence Ken. Donald is spot on in his last posting about this. Donald: no hard feeling at all. It's the risk I took. No refund or returns just an opinion.
  16. Received cd's but contrary to all the comments above I'm not pleased at all with the condition of the cd's. They look like they have been eaten from and the cases are for the trash bin (not that important) only one is a digipack and can't be replaced. No more orders from me in the future.
  17. Did anyone ever wonder where these cd came from?
  18. There are some reissues in Japan of recent nature. UCCI-30XX series. Most but not all also reissued in the US. Tower in Japan has reissued Mel Brown's Blues for We which is not essential but nice to have.
  19. I doubt there will be a lot more Concord/RvG's coming since Rudy doesn't like the Concord people he has to deal with. Luckily he's fond of MC so that channel won't be closed.
  20. that's because on the alternates and unissued tracks the PM isn't reached yet (counting from the first date of issue).
  21. Surely hope so but the last series from this source (Groove Merchant) are spotty but at least it's something. Let's keep our fingers crossed they continue with some more batches.

Dubious because the whole thing does fit on one cd. If the Japanese can do it surely the American CD plants can do it IMO.
  23. Yes I also think it's unfair to post such goodies when Europe is asleep. Please be a little more considerate next time all you US sellers!!!!!!
  24. Part of my order of yesterday was suddenly sold out today. Unacceptable so I cancelled the rest as well. My loss might be your gain. Obviously these are small quatities and they move fast so get your orders inn if you haven't done so already!!!

Maybe the US version dropped a track but the Japanese version didn't (SRCS-9358) so as usual his fits are dubious to say the least........
