  1. Cosell actually had an opinion, for better or worse. Vitale is just a shrill cheerleader.
  2. I saw him play twice and both were quite memorable. The first was with Brass Fantasy, and I believe they covered 'My Way' that night1 What a powerhouse group, a bunch of brass and Philip Wilson on drums(WOW!!!) The second was with an adhoc group lester put together called the 'Hip-Hop Feelharmonic' that had a huge brass section, huge woodwind section, strings and about 4 drummers. It had to be about 30-35 pieces altogether, and they swung like mad. Once the bamd was properly revved up he brought out a half dozen rappers to great effect. Crowd went wild and I kept thinking that you'd never hear anything like this on the radio, it busted too many barriers. HB Lester, and thanks so much.
  3. Iggles= Eagles, Gents= Giants
  4. Etta indeed rocks the house on that one- that voice must have rattled the walls at the club. Whoever I play that for and whatever their taste they're impressed. I love how into it the audience is, too. major major
  5. My set arrived Monday.
  6. Aloc, many thanks for posting it and brownie, many many thanks for writing such a great piece and for helping to document such a great movement in music. I LOVE this place
  7. Wow, well said in both posts. I'm really looking forward to seeing Threadgill next month! Mosaic arrived today, but I won't crack it open until later in the week. For now I'm listening to some live Air!!!
  8. If the Pods and the Braves both win tomorrow, then SF, Pods and Braves have identical records. Pods & SF then play a playoff game to determine the division winner. Loser of that game would then play the Braves, with winner as Wildcard and loser going home. The Mets almost had the same scenario two years ago with the Phillies and Colorado, but the Mets lost on the last day of the season and were eliminated.
  9. I ordered from Amazon.fr and the boxes(Bowie & Taylor) arrived in perfect shape, no problems at all.
  10. I'd love to see the stuff he did with Joe Beck, 'Upon this Rock', etc, never released on cd...
  11. Got the new disc in the mail today, gave it a spin and I like it a lot. It's of a piece with Vol1, if you like Vol1 you'll probably enjoy this one. One curious aspect is that the music was recorded in 2008, so I think we need a new recording with what he's up to now(I can only hope). I will see him at Roulette in November.
  12. Still no Joe Farrell, hopes dashed again
  13. I ordered from Amazon.fr, no problem at all.
  14. Rufus Harley's bagpipes
  15. Cook's Illustrated Louisiana Cookin'
  16. Congrats, Chuck!
  17. Depending on how severe his injury is and how long he takes to get back in the groove, Hamilton's injury could put a big hole in their lineup. Ribs can take awhile to heal.
  18. Done, thanks for the headsup

    Help?

Elissa, Kevin may have the answer, as I blew out one side of a receiver the exact same way, wires to the speakers touching each other and no left channel.
  20. Our member Kyo has a good one out that fits the Prog/Fusion bill quite nicely: http://www.relocator-project.com/
  21. Any place these are available besides Dusty and Amazon.fr? Camjazz doesn't even list them! Thanks
  22. Papsrus, When the Yanks play there it sounds like the Yanks are the home team! A shame the Rays don't draw with a damn good team tied for the best record in baseball- do they need cheerleaders?!
  23. Great news!!!
  24. Is this from the Experience Hendrix folks?
  25. I'm listening to it now, it's verrrrry soulful with quite a solid groove. I'd recommend it to any organ aficionados and there are many here.
