The Raiders are now relevant again. It's nice to see Jason Campbell doing well for Oakland. I thought he never had a decent chance in DC, with a coaching change and a new offensive coordinator almost every year.

I think that's exactly it, he had a tough job but he was also a decent guy, not always so easy to accomplish.

Herbie Mann was born in Brooklyn. I recall Sonny Sharrock saying some nice things about HM. Herbie let Sonny do his thing when Sonny worked for HM, and was most appreciative of the freedom he had. Sharrock is on 'Live at the Whisky a Go Go', with Miroslav Vitous.

I have the disc pictured in the first post, there's a couple of tunes I like but it sounds sometimes like he's trying too hard for sales at the xpense of music quality. A bit too slick at times. I did 'see' him(long story I won't bore y'all with it here)play as a guest with Jeff Beck in June when Beck did a Les Paul tribute, and Trombone Shorty played his ass off, he was excellent. So IMHO he's quite a capable player but he needs the right setting to shine.

I can't watch the NLCS- my cable provider is Cablevision and they are having a dispute with Fox about retransmission fees. Fox got peeoed and pulled their channels off Cablevision. This will end like all other disputes between multibillion corporations, I will pay more for cable. I know it will end like that, so just give my game/bread & circuses.

I saw him play twice and both were quite memorable. The first was with Brass Fantasy, and I believe they covered 'My Way' that night1 What a powerhouse group, a bunch of brass and Philip Wilson on drums(WOW!!!) The second was with an adhoc group lester put together called the 'Hip-Hop Feelharmonic' that had a huge brass section, huge woodwind section, strings and about 4 drummers. It had to be about 30-35 pieces altogether, and they swung like mad. Once the bamd was properly revved up he brought out a half dozen rappers to great effect. Crowd went wild and I kept thinking that you'd never hear anything like this on the radio, it busted too many barriers. HB Lester, and thanks so much.

If the Pods and the Braves both win tomorrow, then SF, Pods and Braves have identical records. Pods & SF then play a playoff game to determine the division winner. Loser of that game would then play the Braves, with winner as Wildcard and loser going home. The Mets almost had the same scenario two years ago with the Phillies and Colorado, but the Mets lost on the last day of the season and were eliminated.

I ordered from Amazon.fr and the boxes(Bowie & Taylor) arrived in perfect shape, no problems at all.

I'd love to see the stuff he did with Joe Beck, 'Upon this Rock', etc, never released on cd...
