  1. Kenny Barron lives in Brooklyn. A guy I know has been over his house a few times.
  2. Over at Hoffman they're reporting this and there seems to be confirmation in the thread from NPR: http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=252141
  3. Bump for eyeballs, folks, get those checks and Paypal $$$ flowing in so we can keep this as the great place it is.
  4. For me it's Twinings Earl Grey tea with some 1/2 & 1/2 and some Splenda. Hits that spot just right. Coffee I never warmed to. I used to work with a woman who said she liked her coffee like her men, black and strong.
  5. The guy at the deli counter at my local supermarket has a large 'Yankees Suck' button on his hat(He's a Met fan). I'm a Yankee fan and I get a good laugh out of it. That's another $2.15!
  6. Done, thanks for running such a great place!
  7. I'm 55 next month and was born in '56, well after Hiroshima/Nagasaki???!!!
  8. Yanks lose as R.A.Dickey discovers his good knuckleball after being terrible so far this season. Freddy Garcia pitches well but gets a loss. Another NY vs NY tomorrow...
  9. Anthony Brown's orchestra did a disc of all Monk: http://www.anthonybrown.org/cd_monks_moods.html
  10. I watched tne game last night and it didn't look to me that Colon was tired at all. He regularly hit 97 in the eigth and struck out the side(IIRC, two were looking on on some nasty pitches).he had one walk, but the walk looked like the ump was a little tight. He had only thrown 87 pitches, so it looked to me that he should have started the 9th and if any trouble bring in Mo. In this case I think Girardi went too much by the book and ignored what was right in front of him.
  11. I had it on in the car- once I realized the car was OK it was pretty cool! They did this another time when I was in the car, and I put it loud and opened the windows. Interesting reactions...
  12. Here's an explanation, it was news to me: http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/al/wasdc/nats.html
  13. Still really looking forward to seeing the Scranton farm team in Indy on June 2. You might get to see one of the Killer Bs, who I hope are not further away than next year(please please please) Posada is not hitting and now he's pouting, Swisher is not hitting, A-Rod is not hitting, Jeter too, thanks much for Granderson and lately Gardner and Cano. Add to that a much tougher schedule after the easy start and this could get ugly fast.
  14. This is very weird, but the bass player in the 9173 clip is Victor Conte, lately of BALCO/steroids infamy!!!
  15. No piano?
  16. Yanks are down 6-0 in the 2nd, and with their lately anemic offense that's two games worth of runs, so odds are the Yanks lose tonight.
  17. I lost track-is that his 8th team? Million dollar talent anbd a ten-cent head.
  18. There's a CD titled 'Leaf Palm Hand' of them that is not very expensive and it's also very good. I think Jazzloft and the usual suspects have it. Amazon has it for $12.43: http://www.amazon.com/Leaf-Palm-Cecil-Taylor-Oxley/dp/B00119UA9A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1304530249&sr=8-2
  19. 107 pitches and only 27 balls? That's insane!!!
  20. At least he was there for 'Wailing with Hank'!
  21. I was watching it, and both times I jumped off the sofa ready to cheer only to see that the ball was caught.Curses, foiled again.
  22. Caroll O'Connor Jean Stapleton Rob Reiner
  23. Saw him with Humble Pie and Frampton around 72/73. HP had the misfortune of following J Geils Band, and JGB was the opener and did two encores! They drove the place insane and the audience wouldn't let them leave. HP came on and played at a painful volume level. Halfway through their set the place was 3/4 empty with more people leaving.
  24. Listening to 'Ghetto Walk' right now, great groove and everyone's listening closely to each other. When one player makes a statement, everyone else is right there- fantastic group interplay.
  25. If you have Dice-K pitching weel with Beckett on his game and Lester pitching well the Bosox may have quite a rotation considering nobody else in the AL has a great rotation.
