  1. I had it on in the car- once I realized the car was OK it was pretty cool! They did this another time when I was in the car, and I put it loud and opened the windows. Interesting reactions...
  2. Here's an explanation, it was news to me: http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/al/wasdc/nats.html
  3. Still really looking forward to seeing the Scranton farm team in Indy on June 2. You might get to see one of the Killer Bs, who I hope are not further away than next year(please please please) Posada is not hitting and now he's pouting, Swisher is not hitting, A-Rod is not hitting, Jeter too, thanks much for Granderson and lately Gardner and Cano. Add to that a much tougher schedule after the easy start and this could get ugly fast.
  4. This is very weird, but the bass player in the 9173 clip is Victor Conte, lately of BALCO/steroids infamy!!!
  5. No piano?
  6. Yanks are down 6-0 in the 2nd, and with their lately anemic offense that's two games worth of runs, so odds are the Yanks lose tonight.
  7. I lost track-is that his 8th team? Million dollar talent anbd a ten-cent head.
  8. There's a CD titled 'Leaf Palm Hand' of them that is not very expensive and it's also very good. I think Jazzloft and the usual suspects have it. Amazon has it for $12.43: http://www.amazon.com/Leaf-Palm-Cecil-Taylor-Oxley/dp/B00119UA9A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1304530249&sr=8-2
  9. 107 pitches and only 27 balls? That's insane!!!
  10. At least he was there for 'Wailing with Hank'!
  11. I was watching it, and both times I jumped off the sofa ready to cheer only to see that the ball was caught.Curses, foiled again.
  12. Caroll O'Connor Jean Stapleton Rob Reiner
  13. Saw him with Humble Pie and Frampton around 72/73. HP had the misfortune of following J Geils Band, and JGB was the opener and did two encores! They drove the place insane and the audience wouldn't let them leave. HP came on and played at a painful volume level. Halfway through their set the place was 3/4 empty with more people leaving.
  14. Listening to 'Ghetto Walk' right now, great groove and everyone's listening closely to each other. When one player makes a statement, everyone else is right there- fantastic group interplay.
  15. If you have Dice-K pitching weel with Beckett on his game and Lester pitching well the Bosox may have quite a rotation considering nobody else in the AL has a great rotation.
  16. I just listened to half of it for the first time in a long time and it's great, moody, dark and groovin' all at once. I'll listen to the second half later today.
  17. Now that's a 'fro!!!
  18. Susie Ibarra Marilyn Mazur I saw Cindy Blackman in January with the Lifetime Tribute band(Vernon Reid, Jack Bruce & John Medeski)and she was KILLIN'
  19. The head first slide claims another victim.
  20. RIP I only knew his music from his two 'Vietnam' titled dics and perhaps one with El'Zabar, but he was an original player who played with soul.
  21. After Beckett's gem last night I think we can talk Dan down from the ledge. In all the hoopla about teams that started 0-6 and didn't make the playoffs/WS, how many of them were actually considered good teams at the start of the season? It's no surprise if a team is lousy and starts off 0-6, so we may be looking at an extremely small sample size here.
  22. It's a two part case. First is to prove he took steroids, second that he knew it was steroids.
  23. I just came home from seeing Jeff Beck and the Imelda May band at the Beacon in NYC. It was absolutely amazingfantasticincrediblemindblowingstellargreat. Words are inadequate to descibe both how amazing Jeff Beck is as a guitarist and how Imelda May is as a vocalist. If you have ANY CHANCE IN THE WORLD TO SEE THEM, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They did Les Paul tunes, early rock'n'roll and finished with a heart-wrenching version of 'Danny Boy'that nearly made me cry. 40 years of going to concerts and this was one of the absolute best. I'll be in a state of bliss until at least Wednesday. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. I saw her sit in with the Allman Brothers in 2006 for an epic 'Elizabeth Reed',replete with a tremendous bass solo. When she got on stage she looked like she was about 14, and I thought "OK, play your little thing and let's get on with the show". 30 seconds into playing I dumped that thought and realized I was watching a real talent. In 2009 I saw her with Jeff Beck and she hit one out of the park! Beck gave her plenty of free reign and she played great, at times doubling his knotty guitar lines, throwing bass bombs here and there and she took a few solos also. I was blown away at someone so young playing like a veteran and doing everything within the context of what the band was playing.
  25. Last night I caught the Allman Brothers at the Beacon in NYC. As their special guest for the evening they brought out John Scofield! He played some blistering solos on 'Elizabeth Reed' and 'Mountain Jam'.During 'Mountain Jam' they interpolated 'Birdland' by Weather Report The Allman Brothers played exceptional, with special kudos to the two fine guitarists, Derek Trucks & Warren Haynes.
