  1. I gave the disc a quick spin(tons of new music and very little time)a nd it's a real good 'un. I'm looking forward to a NYC show later in the year, as I couldn't make last year's NYC gigs. Any members out there, who haven't, make it your business to see Reptet. You get funny hats, some laughs andabove all, ass-kickin' music. What Chuck said earlier about Samantha's arranging/composing/playing talents and JohnnyE's drumming are spot on- these folks are worth the trip to see.
  2. Cashman may have been looking to salvage his credibility, as he had stated that he wouldn't do a deal like this, and then...
  3. Caught Jim Campilongo last night at the Living Room. Nice venue and Campilongo was EXCELLENT!!!! There were two bands before Campilongo, both with decent tunes marred by lousy vocals and crappy lyrics. Campilongo had no singer and was tremendous. You can hear that his trio really listens to each other. He closed with a mind-bending rendition of '3rd Stone from the Sun'that should be recorded.
  4. I saw Scott play as a guest at a Soulive concert in Brooklyn a couple of years ago and I was very impressed, he played with plenty of fire. Sometime after that I picked up a live disc of his and was(to put it mildly) underwhelmed. I didn't check him out any more after that, but if he's at a live show I might go.
  5. Mahavishnu, "The Inner Mounting Flame'- changed how I listen to music forever and started me on jazz Allman Brothers, "Live at Fillmore East'- expanded what I thought possible for live music Miles, 'Agharta'- blew me away then and still does today Cecil Taylor, 'One Too Salty Swift and Not Goodbye'- it took years, but when I finally clicked with Taylor's music this pushed me over the edge(in a good way)
  6. She's in her 50s and looks stunning- WOW!
  7. I'm perversely rooting for Seattle Sunday. If they win, they're 7-9 and win the division! At the same time, Giants and Tampa Bay could both go 10-6 and miss the playoffs. I love parity(parody)!!!
  8. Sam Rivers at BMCC in NYC. It wasn't what I expected but it turned our pretty good after all. Rivers was ill and couldn't play that much(what he did play was great), so he had Craig Harris and Steve Coleman as guests. Some inspired music that night.
  9. 'Upon this Rock' is a bit fusiony, but great playing by both Beck & Farrell(As I recall, haven't heard 'em in about 25+ years!. I can't order from Wounded Bird directly(no orders from NY state),so I have to wait until I can order them from Artist shop. I've waited for a looong time for these, so a little more won't hurt. Many thanks for the heads up Matthew!
  10. He did a LOT to bring jazz to the public, via Jazzmobile in NYC, his spots on CBS, etc etc. RIP, he was a huge friend to the music.
  11. Henry Threadgill at Roulette- i went on the Friday and Saturday. Friday was another world, Saturday was very good, but still of this earth There were others, but I can't think of them right now(TIRED!!! Snow trudging)
  12. And what if the 49ers get hot, win the division with a 7-9 record and then go to the Super Bowl?!
  13. Congrats to the Phils for landing the big trophy, what a rotation!!!
  14. From what I gather the Yankee interest in Crawford is either a backup plan(No Lee, get Crawford, possibly deal an outfielder for pitching) or an attempt to drive the price up if the Bosox are interested. The 7 year offer to Cliff Lee is either unfounded rumor or his agent is blowin' smoke- I'll take blowin' smoke. I saw today that the Jeter deal has a PLAYER option for a 4th year. Big mistake by the Yanks, a geriatric left side of the infield for the next 4 years(I wouldn't have gone more than 2 years with Jeter).
  15. I had that one(bought it when it was released) and sold it to a guy in Italy for about $40 a couple years ago. It's very good but I hadn't listened to it in years and figured it would be years again...
  16. Zach Greinke also has social anxiety disorder. His pitching for NY could be a disaster with that ailment.Picture him with a gazillion reporters around his locker after a tough loss, it may be too much for him to handle. I like him as a pitcher, but i think he's not cut out for NY.
  17. I find it funny how many people point at A-rod when talking about Jeter. Because the Yanks made a colossal error, they should repeat it???!!!
  18. Police Story, Naked Gun,Airplane- the guy cracked me up for years. RIP and many thanks for the great laughs.
  19. I'm in, Jeffcrom. I just sent a paypal payment your way, look forward to getting the disc.
  20. If, and this is a huge if, Jeter leaves the Yanks he would at best get a contract of two years at about $15mil, and only from a team with deep pockets that can afford to blow that kind of $$. Any takers out there? I didn't think so...
  21. I love Jeter, but three years @$45mil is too long and too much $$. On the open market he MIGHT get 2years and about $10-15mil if a proper sucker is found. He'll be 37 in June and he had a horrid year at the plate with doubtful prospects of that improving(I think it'll get worse). Despite the Gold Glove he's not much of a top-tier shortstop anymore either. They can't play forever...
  22. My condolences and best wishes to you and yours.
  23. But can the Braves keep Uggla? The Marlins offered him 4yrs/48mil and he said no to that?!!
  24. I'm thinking there will be a flurry of bids at the end. If more than one person uses a sniping service, who would win?
  25. JUMP ON THIS, IT'S A GREAT DEAL!!!!
