Well, its a shocking deal, certainly, because Cameron was considered to be worth a heckuva lot more than what San Diego is apparently giving. Wasn't he supposed to end up as part of a package for Manny? I have to guess that Cameron's stock has gone way down since that collission.
I'm also not at all certain he's quite the superstar Johnny makes him out to be. Yes, he's won a couple of gold gloves. But its a stretch to say that he's an automatic 25-30 homer guy. In the seven seasons he's played at least 140 games, he's hit 25 homers twice, 30 once. The other years were 8, 18, 19 and 21. He's also a .249 lifetime BA and he strikes out a ton.
Frankly, I'll be glad if this trade goes through cuz that means he won't end up in Fenway, where he couldn't carry Manny's son's jock.

The rumors in NY are that the Cameron/Nady deal was made by the mets for two reasons: 1)payroll flexibility(Cameron makes around 6-7 mil this year, Nady 500m) 2) Part one of a Manny deal.
Dan, you may get Nady on the Bosox.
