  1. I recently picked up a bunch of Savoy titles from a fellow board member and really enjoying what I am hearing. This is a label for whatever reason I was seriously underweighted in. I am really enjoying what I am hearing. Thank you Kevin Bresnahan!
  2. Starting in reverse order with Symphony # 8 and the Grand Duo. I've had this on my watch list for well over a year. At one time the asking price was in the $40 range for a used copy. Scooped this last week for $11 and change. I think I made out well on this.
  3. Happy birthday. GA!
  4. Hope you had a great birthday, John!
  5. Happy Birthday, TD!
  6. Thanks David. I figured the pickings are very slim these days. I happened to see online there are a few stores in San Diego but it doesn't look promising. Thought it was worth the effort. Boy, I remember the glory days of Tower Records. I spent a lot of time there on Sports Arena Boulevard.
  7. Hey guys I'll be in San Diego in about 2 weeks. Any chance there are any music stores CD stores left in San Diego?
  8. Dan, You can add the Dexter Gordon with Hampton Hawes/Berlin 2'nd copy. That sounds like an interesting match up.

  10. Bill, I can't imagine there would be much left on that list. But you never know so why not go ahead and send me that list thank you. Tom
  11. Happy Birthday, Dan!
  12. Low 90's today in southern Maine.
  13. Never quite understood why the set hadn't sold out sooner. But great for the folks who really want to hear this music.
  14. Sorry to come across this. R.I.P. Mr. Smith. While I'm at it, more than a few people here have made mention of his Steeplechase sessions. A few recommendations please?
  15. Big Papi should reconsider retiring with the numbers he's put up this year. Amazing.

    RVG - RIP

Sad news to all jazz lovers. Thanks Rudy with providing us will all this great music. Your memory lives on.
  17. I enjoy the album as well. Then again I pretty much enjoy anything Kenny does.
  18. Somehow I knew you would chime in on this one, Paul. Some real nice Sunnyland Slim also.
  19. Sad news although not a surprise. Thanks Bobby for the great music especially those wonderful Blue Note recordings. I'll try to play some of those on my rare day off tomorrow.
  20. I remember recently scrolling through the channels and seeing that "The McLaughlin Group" was still on the air. With some of the same panelists although obviously much older looking. Amazing how long that show aired. 2 panelists representing the left and 2 from the right discussing politics with McLaughlin as the moderator. I always enjoyed that show. R.I.P. John.
  21. Thoughts on this one? I heard some of this on Jazz Profiles on WKCR earlier.
  22. Musically there isn't much happening especially if you enjoy jazz, You might as well be speaking a foreign language with some of the looks you'd get. That would be just down the road from me. My wife works at an assisted living facility in York. She loves working there. As long as you don't mind the summer crowds and traffic jams, you'll fit in.
