  1. Happy Birthday once again, Evan.
  2. I wish I had caught this earlier. Looks like I missed out on some interesting recordings. If the Strozier is still available, I'm interested.
  3. Great collection. Any serious jazz lover would fine much to enjoy here.
  4. I've been listening to an Oscar Pettiford session which features Jimmy Hamilton on clarinet. Some very nice playing here. Of course he played many years with Duke. Recorded some sessions on his own. I was wondering what are some of your favorite recordings which feature Jimmy Hamilton? Look forward to reading your thoughts.
  5. Happy Birthday, Jeff! We need to connect on SKYPE soon!
  6. I'm also interested in the Dave Bailey release.
  7. I'd be interested in some of these releases. How is the Pike date which features Bill Evans?
  8. I was just listening to this yesterday which features 2 tracks from Ernestine.
  9. What's amazing to me is with his advanced age mid 80's as with "In My Time", the quality of the arrangements. Superb!
  10. I've been a fan of Gerald's music for quite some time owning the big box Mosaic. That said, I hadn't ventured into his later recordings till very recently when I purchased "In My Time". All I can say is wow! Anyone else here agree? Other thoughts on some of his other releases?
  11. Not certain what others think of this album, but I do enjoy this. A reunion album or sorts from '86 I believe? Insert Cozy Powell subtract Carl Palmer.
  12. Too many people whose music I grew up to have passed recently. I don't like this trend.
  13. I can't even imagine what you must have gone through previously, Joel. Good luck with the new place. Sounds like you deserve it!
  14. Thanks Larry for the headsup. I've been making a few purchases recently based on your recommendations and have faired very well. The Shorty Rogers Plays Richard Rogers and the Eddie Higgins Haunted Heart are just 2 examples. Keep them coming!
  15. This time of the year, usually jeans with a t-shirt or long sleeved Under Armour shirt covered by a sweatshirt or sweater . My bright colored sneakers with orange laces usually are cause for commentary.
  16. -6 F with wind chills near -30 F. I let the dogs out to do there business and they swiftly returned. They don't want any part of this cold weather.
  17. FWIW, I'm reviving this thread to say I'm looking at adding even more Zoot to the collection. I own most of the Pablo's which are great, IMO. I own a few of his earlier sessions, but many more holes to fill. This thread is a great example of what a valuable resource this place is. All I can say is THANK YOU!
  18. Hardbopjazz, I came across this article from 2003 which could shed some light on your question. Apparently, TS runs his own label and planned at the time to release some of these recordings. Here's the article, read down and he makes mention of these recordings. http://jazztimes.com/articles/19699-t-s-monk-underground-monk
  19. I thought the exact same thing.
  20. The Carmel Jones Select is a real good one! Some very nice Harold Land also.
  21. Happy Birthday, Michael!
