There is a previous thread where his son asked for reminiscences. IIRC he was in Las Vegas then.
  2. I'd love to hear those Dave Burns albums.
  3. UK Island issue of Time lp.
  4. Happy Birthday Jeff.
  5. Nice to be reminded of that concert, memorable night. Thirty four years, how time flies. IIRC Stan Tracey's octet was on the bill.
  6. Have a great day GA

    Ted Curson RIP

Very sad news, a fine player, maybe a little under appreciated
  8. Happy birthday Paul
  9. These were available in Tower Records London store back in the day. They were nicely priced too IIRC. As I had the vinyl the only one I bought was Ted Curson's.
  10. I remember Ed Dipple telling me about seeing that group at Club 43 in Manchester. IIRC Roswell Rudd was with them. That's the one Bill, plus Grachan Moncur and Beaver Harris.
  11. Happy birthday Catesta
  12. Garrison was in the UK with Archie Shepp back in the sixties. The sets opened with a Garrison bass solo, absolutely astonishing.
  13. I would have loved to have heard Mr. Ware with Cyrille. I did hear him live once in Raleigh right after Go See The World came out with Shipp, Parker and Dickey. It was a fine little band, quite straight ahead but with a nice creative edge. Lovely finish with Ware playing the blues like he'd played r&b all his life. Played his Freedom Suite in the week, excellent and highly recommended.
  14. Happy Birthday Brownie.
  15. I'm not admitting to being a completist but I have an awful lot of David Murray (leader and sideman), there are probably less than ten commercially issued items I'm aware of that I don't have (or particularly want).
  16. Bob, I think I copied my VHS recording of Brass Fantasy onto dvd. If I can find it I'll give it a play. That would be fantastic, John. Hope you find it ! It was a great evening - at Green Park Station (open air venue). I see that the BFI also have it listed. BFI Link Found it and played it, fabulous stuff. Bob, I just tried to pm you but you can't receive messages?
  17. Me too, back in the 60s. Never heard of anyone actually buying one.

  19. I have the Jazz Unlimited cd, nice stuff.
  20. Very sad news. He made a big impression on me playing with Andrew Cyrille at a London gig years ago. I've been interested in his playing since. I've not always enjoyed it but there was no doubt about his sincerity.
  21. Happy Birthday Leeway.
