  1. How about Sonny Greenwich?
  2. Well apparently, restoring the Pablo covers are not in the cards so far, as the new 24bit Joe Pass album cover is the same lousy one they used for the old OJC and K2. The original Virtuoso cover is way cooler than that bland one they keep on using. Another complaint I have, though, besides the album cover art, is the tinny sound on the older editions, as it is one of the few OJC's and K2's that never sounded good to me. Perhaps this new 24bit edition will finally make this session sound fuller and more robust.
  3. Other worthy versions of this song are on The Great Concert of Charles Mingus, Mingus at Monterey and Right Now, all from 1964 and 1965. Was just spinning the Cornell 1964 version of this today.
  4. All of those Verve elites are vey resaonable, along with the Sal Salvador.
  5. I have the American MCA/Impulse edition (found for $5 used!!!). I think its the '89 edition (no inidcation that it is, just a hunch) because its in a jewel case (I think the mid-nineties were the digi-pak issues and I don't believe OM was reissued in that series). If I knew how to burn it, I would, but it seems like you're interested in the original packaging. Hope that helps. HG
  6. I do too, but they certainly are different. Mighty big of Hutch to give Joe so much space on his dates. Nearly an hour of Chambers tunes (in total), if I remember correctly. I intended to make a CDR of all of them once, but never got around to it. I should at least remind myself of what all those Chambers tunes are (yes, I'm fishing to see if anybody already already has that list handy, or else I'll get to it myself one of these days). Third the Chambers tracks. In fact, I like the second half of Components waaay more than the first half.
  7. That was pretty interesting, thanks for posting.
  8. If you have Modern Windows Suite , then you have Tenor Stylings . Modern Windows Suite is a crummy reissue , combining as it does , half a session (Modern Windows) with a full session (Tenor Stylings) that had already been reissued . Thanks for clearing that up. I agree though that just having a session and a half doesn't make real good sense; I'd really like the other half of Modern Windows.
  9. Have Modern Windows Suite that Savoy put out a few years back and like that quite a bit. Never heard Tenor Styings though. Isn't this one pretty hard to find anyway?
  10. Went to a new Irish Pub that opened up in our town tonight for dinner, which surprisingly only had two Irish dishes on the menu....hmmmmm.
  11. Thanks for the rec on Bill Dixon/Warren Smith rec. Hope the new Logan warms up to you Clifford!
  12. NICE. Thanks for the blurb. Looking forward to it.
  13. Someone should grab that Katanga! disk, as its one of the rarest of the WCC's and one of the best sessions from that series as well.
  14. Glad to see he's recording again. I can't read the sideman credits on that pic you posted, do you know who his band is? Thanks.
  15. Is there a schedule available? Any chance this film will make it to the states? Would love to see that Ornette Quartet footage!
  16. Found used today for $8.99: Archie Shepp-Montreux One-Freedom
  17. Agree, but 'd venture though to suggest that all the Ayler ESP material is worthwhile and should be had whether its on sale or not!
  18. Still up, playing "A Love Supreme" in my mind.
  19. The Lacy, Logan and Lowe are all pretty worthwhile.
