Agree. Along with "Songs of Love and Regret", I also like "Much More!" as well. Don't know if its been mentioned, but "Free at Last" is another worthwhile date along with "On Steinway" a splendid solo disk that was recorded in the early 70's I think. Another thumbs up for Mal-1, etc on Prestige along with the countless sideman appearances, esp. the Five Spot material with Dolphy.

3. Man, we got lucky here in Cleveland; just a few inches of snow and its sunny now.
4. I was so happy when I found this used at Half Price for $6 and rushed to get in the cd player only to feel somewhat underwhelmed by the affair. I feel like I should like this album, but I haven't warmed up to it. I'll try again to see if it clicks.
5. No love for Compulsion!!!!!! ??????? The first track is killer! I mean, how can you go wrong with a line up including Hubbard, Gilmore, McBee, Davis and Chambers? The percussion too, I think, adds a lot to this date and it really has an open feel to it. If I recall, both McBee and Davis play together on track three, with just Hill and the percussionists. Great stuff, IMO. I also didn't see anyone mention Change either, with Sam Rivers. Maybe another sleeper I guess, but its another great date with Walter Booker playing a little more freely than usual. Grass Roots is the Rare Groove if you will, but its Hill at his funkiest with Jimmy Ponder on the second session (a rare occurance of Hill with a guitarist). If you can fine this one, I'd recommend you grab it too. Another thumbs up for Judgment!, Andrew!!!, Passing Ships, Black Fire and Pax. More thumbs up for the later dates such as A Beautiful Day, Dusk and But Not Farewell (if you can ever find it).
6. Yup. Great selection back in the day. Loved the BN album covers hanging on the walls.
7. Yum. Got a recipe to share? I do, its in a new recipe book my wife bought last week, so we've been trying a lot of new dishes out of it. I can pass it on, but its going to take some typing. PM me if you'd like it.

10. Welcome too. Lots of fun stuff to do here
11. Yeah, I wanted to see that, but when I tried going to Trinity College, they were closed because of St. Patrick's Day. Drove by James Joyce's house too, but they didn't seem to be open for visitors either.
12. Yeah, when we were there a couple of years ago, we tried to cram so much in that we ended up spending more time in the car more than anything else. We were there for a week and it wasn't nearly enough time to do everything. A couple of places that I could recommend that's not on your list that could be worthwhile: The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. Six stories crammed with fun stuff to do (and drink) that can last for hours, ending on the top floor with a panoramic view of Dublin and a complementary pint of Guinness. Blarney Castle in Cork. You can make a day out of it if you want. The grounds alone are fun to go through and working your way through the castle to the Blarney stone is fun, if you don't mind cramp walkways here and there. The Cliffs of Moher. Its a real nutty drive to get to them but its well worth it. Kilkenny and Kilarney turned out to be our favorite stops (we predominately stayed in the southern part of Ireland and in the country. The food there is outrageously good and I don't recall a bad meal anywhere at all ( I think the best food was in Gort). The pubs open late (4pm?) and close early (I think 9pm) but if you want to stay later some pubs will let you "buy" a seat. I don't know your hotel arrangements but I would recommend staying in a castle at least one night. Its really expensive but a lot of fun. You can wonder the halls and the grounds and get carried away just doing that. We stayed at Ballynahinch castle in Galway. Great golf course there too. Hope that helps. Have fun!
13. Yeah! Remember that episode where Spongebob wanted to become a man and not "grandma's little boy", and Patrick suggests that they should wear these fake sideburns, puff out their chests, and listen to free-form jazz? Then Patrick later on becomes grandma's little boy and he says that he doesn't get jazz anyways? Well as it turns out, me, my wife and two daughters are all Spongebob nuts! We even stayed at the Nick Hotel in Orlando, Fl ,so we could enjoy the water theme park and meet the characters (I of course had to get a pic of me with Patrick) at breakfast. My wife and older daughter even won a spot on their mock gameshow, which they ended up winning. My favorite episode is Krusty Towers, which for me is one of the funniest and well-written episodes, while my wife is a fan of "Flats" in "The Bully" where all he says is "I'm gunna kick your butt". My wife and I even got into an argument as to which episode was funnier, to the point where we had several friends watch both episodes back to back and judge on a scale of 1 to 10. My episode was determened to be funnier.
14.

Indeed. Out of the Storm has some of Kenny's most free-playing on it.
15. Nice clip, thanks for posting!
16. What a bummer . RIP
17. Happy birthday David!
18. Snow, snow, snow, nearly a foot of it now.
19. Happy Birthday Clifford!
20. Upgraded from the OJC to the K2, which sounds slightly better than the OJC (and the OJC sounds really good nonetheless). Never heard the other versions. The K2's OOP although it seems it can be had for a reasonable price. I have a good deal of Concord RVG's and have been really satisfied with the sound, so most likely the RVG edition sounds just as good.
21. Hey, that's a "little cigar," a cigarillo I think they're called. (I'm a non-smoker now for 19.5 years, former HEAVY smoker). Ha ha, didn't know that, not being a cigarette/cigarillo aficionado. How about a thread where Mal is not smoking at all?
