  2. Yeah, I've kind of found myself in a similar situation. Ever since I've upgraded my cd shelves, I have more breathing room, but on the same token, when I see a gap between cd's, I'm always wondering if I misplaced one, or even worse someone took one without letting me know.
  3. Yeah, echo happy father's day to all too. My older daughter read me a father's day book today-it made me tear up. It had to be the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me, and made me remember all the important things in life. Needless to say, it made me smile from ear to ear.
  4. Wow, thanks for sharing that. I love his ESP date and I think he appeared on another ESP date then he largely vanished. What a shame. Glad to see he's trying to get back on the scene and I wish him all the best.
  5. This has been the wildest rain season ever. There's been hardly a day that has gone by that it hasn't rained.
  6. Ok, nothing special just a Labatts.
  7. Yeah funny enough I just bought the Workout RVG yesterday. I would buy Another Workout just for the cover art alone.
  8. I really don't listen to vocalists much, but I do dig Helen Merrill just because of the company she keeps on her records like Clifford Brown and so forth.
  9. Thanks Chuck!
  10. Just finished season four of Entourage.
  11. RVG's JR Monterose Leo Parker-Rollin' with Leo Hank Mobley-Workout
  12. Is this true? I always thought that New Jazz handled the more "out" jazz while Prestige handled the more "mainstream" jazz. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  13. Black Pearls again. I can see why this sat in the can for a bit, and its no real criticism of Byrd, but I do think his playing was a bit underwhelming in parts.
  14. Late 40s/50s slang term, roughly equivalent to cool. Just read an interview with Charles McPherson the other day circa '68 where he used it a couple of times. EDIT: Zora Neale Hurston's Harlem slang dictionary dates it back to the 1930s and defines it as meaning "perfect". Glossary of Harlem slang Thanks Ghost!
  15. Eric Dolphy at the Five Spot Vol. II-Prestige RVG Anthony Williams-Spring-BN RVG
  16. Yeah, tend to agree. Not sure I dig all the blood.
  17. Was "solid" something said when listening to modern jazz?
  18. The Hill/Henderson collaboration was extraordinary. Our Thing is incredible!
  19. Yeah, I have to agree. I was there last year and found very little pertaining to jazz (maybe Cliff Englewood could chime in). I came back empty handed, but still had a great time nonetheless.
