IIRC, Shaq claims the Admiral stiffed him for a chat after a game Shaq came to watch DR play in when Shaq was just a high schooler. Hard to believe, the Admiral has always struck me as being a very classy dude.

I think it shows a failure to equip students with skills applicable to the world outside of school. At one point I could name all the presidents, vice presidents, and the years they were in office. WTF good does that memorization exercise do for me in the world outside of school? There should be classes on credit cards. There should be classes on paying taxes. There should be classes on knowing how to get around a megalopolis like Los Angeles... Instead we force feed kids a bunch of uniformly useless information and waste their time.

I used to loan cds to a few trusted friends on occasion. However, even my trusted friends don't care for them as methodically as I do. The discs would come back with scratches all over the bottom, as if they'd spent time out of their jewel cases/not in a player or were played in car stereos. They'd play fine, but damn! Once a trusted friend borrowed and scratched one of my Willie Bobo records, right through the track that I told him to listen to. More recently I've been making compilation cdrs when I want to share tunes. No more loaning.

I have an mp3-playing car stereo, and I want to burn mp3 cdrs to have in the car instead of having a giant book of 80-minute cdrs. Anyone know how to force iTunes to do this? When I change the burning preferences to "mp3 cd," I get an error message for each track saying they are not mp3-formatted. However, I can move them just fine onto my iPod, so they must be mp3s. WTF?

I'm suprised to see seemingly passive play from Shaq. Maybe he is running on fumes. I think Riley was right on with his comment on Shaq's conditioning, which Riley has since retracted. Shaq must have put him in a headlock. How 'bout the kiddo Bynum throwing one down on the Daddy?

Ah, sweet justice. Who am I kidding? I hate Denver too, and take little pleasure in watching them win. The Pats of the last three years are easily one of the best teams I've ever seen. They had to have the ball bounce against them at some point.

A more accurate assessment would be "the Lakers cannot win a title with their current roster."
