Thanks a lot everybody!
I had a great 30th birthday, and still get spoiled as if I were a child! It's actually a little embarrassing.
I went to the Laker game last night and sat in the VIP section thanks to a good friend who gets them courtesy of a Hollywood lab. Watched the whole game from the restaurant. Lakers played a lackluster game but it's always awesome to see the game live. Paul Pierce posterizing Chris Mihm was memorable. Kobe hit some shots no one should make, as usual.
Just got home from playing basketball myself. My team only had four tonight and played the best team we've seen all year. We got blown out by 38. Happy Birthday! I had a couple good moves but my shot was off. Bah!
Life has been kind to me for 30 years, and I am thankful! I feel 18.
Madlib is much more adept at making beats for rap. Some of his raps are OK, but he's got a lot of lame ones too. His beats are top-notch as far as rap goes. Bought that Quasimoto album on instrumental, because the raps get old.
I somewhat enjoyed the YNQ stuff at first, but found they did not stand up to repeated listens for the reasons cited above by DatDere.
Remix, bad.
Reissue, good.
Mimicking, bad.
Covering in an original manner, good.
Sampling in duplicating measurements, bad.
Re-contextualizing and juxtapozing samples unpredictably, good
Some people loved curling enough to have gravestones carved in the shape of the curling stone or whatever the thingamabob is. I can see why it's fun, the process of warming up the ice to make the thing move is somewhat magical. Watching it is, well...
I always call it exactly like it is, unlike the squadron of Kobe haters here. Apparently you missed the fact that the pass was tipped and was essentially a loose ball that Kobe scrambled to retrieve. If anything, getting the ball at all was clutch.
Funny, this thread immediately made me think of Stimpy's booger collection that he had stuck under his foot stool. You know, the one that sang as a barbershop quartet.
Last night I left Live Chat to check out a PM. When I tried to return to Live Chat, suddenly my browser wouldn't access Live Chat properly. A second window popped up with Java Script information. Anyone know why this happened?
Note: I've been forced to revert to OS 9 this week because my G4 crashed, so I assume it's something to do with the old version browser I'm using. I'm just not sure.
