Soul Stream, how bout an obscure 25 every greaze fan needs to hunt down?
In the Legends Of Acid Jazz series, I have Sonny Stitt, Charles Kynard, Leon Spencer, Johnny Hammond Smith, Gene Ammons, Don Patterson, Melvin Sparks, Boogaloo Joe Jones, Houston Person, Booker Ervin, Trudy Pitts, Shirley Scott...I went nuts on emusic when I realized they were all there for the taking, I may have more of them that I can't think of. They all have their moments of sublimely greaaaazzzeey funk, particularly the Stitt and the Johnny Hammond Smith.
I've got a Jimmy McGriff Blue Note best of, and an import of his stuff on Groove Merchant that have some gems. Recently I added two live recordings of McGriff with Richard Groove Holmes, both pretty cool.
