  1. As the first person to order Waiting for the Boogaloo sisters, let me be the first to order this disc as well!! I cast a vote for Organ Grinder's Swing and Along Came John .. no wait, maybe Congo Chant or ... This is going to be a tuff decision eh?
  2. That article is right about hearing B3s everywhere. I am continuously pointing out B3 playing to my wife during commercials, cartoons, movies, etc. ( She is not a fan yet but I think it's growing on her. My toddlers love the B3 though! Maybe the use of B3s in cartoons has instilled a certain appreciation for the instrument. )
  3. What the...? Hey guys, I think I found a picture of B3er's rig.
  4. I had been using a Braun electric to knock my beard down a bit and shave my lip and then get close with a Schick disposable in the shower. Neither the Braun nor the Schick could give me a close shave alone. The Braun can't begin to touch my neck and the Schick feels like it plucks the whiskers off my lip. Yesterday, I tried th Mach 3 sample I got in the mail and I'm a convert! This is as close a shave as I've ever had with a single pass. Very comfortable on my face as well. Interesting to see how many guys are using the Mach 3 with so many products out there.
  5. We have a winner. Coming in at just over one hour BIG AL!! Thanks for playing and keep your eyes open because I'm sure my baby who is due in January will want to enroll as well!
  6. B3er, I just saw that frightening picture on your profile! Please don't tell me that is Ricky from the "delightful" vintriliquist (sp) team of Geraldine and Ricky. They came to our church when I was kid. I think I talked my mom into buying the 8 track!
  7. I chose this thread to post this because I love the greaze and it's my favorite thread. (Thanks Big Al) As you may or may not know already, I have recently moved. In my book, moving can only mean one thing. TIME TO REJOIN BMG!!!! The offer is open, if anyone wants to sign me up, just PM me. (The last time I rejoined it took about one minute for someone to PM me so you better act now if you're interested.)
  8. Yes, I should add this, if the toothpaste feels gritty between your fingers it is probably too abrasive but I've had no problems with "smoother" pastes.
  9. Buffing out the scratches with toothpaste will leave the disc surface hazy but scratches are gone and it plays. I think those disc fixers with that green and black thing-a-ma-jig that I've seen in stores leaves the disc hazy as well.
  10. Anyone heard the new Galactic? I usually enjoy their stuff. Not so much the tunes with vocals, but these guys bring the funk. I even admit to liking some of their dance club / hip hop type tunes with MEGABASS.
  11. Here's my method: I take a cotton cloth ( old T shirt) and rub a little bit of magic polymer (Crest toothpaste) and then the CD plays fine! It's essentially free since I usually try to keep a little toothpaste around anyway.
  12. So we rolled up the ... Hey! now you're talkin'
  13. Thanks guys, Those look like they will work out just fine.
  14. Can anyone help me with a scan of Horace Parlan's US3? My cover is a mess. If someone could just attach a 400x400 or better image to a reply I would be most grateful. If it's not too much trouble I also need Bob Marley's EXODUS and LEGEND (coffee spilt on my CDs and I was able to save most but these are ruined.) Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind the covers of John Patton's THE WAY I FEEL, OH BABY, and THAT CERTAIN FEELING. I prefer to have my Mosaic arranged in albums. Much appreciated Scott
  15. What happened to deepdiscoutcd.com?? I have been using them recently. Blue Notes to your door for under $10 is hard to beat. I went there today to order SONIC BOOM only to find they don't have the new Conns. Anyone know what's up with that? Anyway, where can I get the new Conns cheap? (I know about Half.com and Cheapcds. com)
  16. Jim, You will realize exactly how evil Disney is when you have a child and suddenly are purchasing more Disney videos than jazz CDs. (believe me it could happen!) When you find yourself singing songs from Cinderella in the shower instead of humming your favorite Larry Young. And when you're planning your third pilgrimage to Orlando in as many years, (not for a Jazz festival but to visit the great rodent who controls our children's minds and souls!!
  17. I just recently completed a move to another state. Arkansas if you are curious. Coming from Louisiana I guess this is a step in the right direction. Anyway when buying this house the paper work listed it in Fayetteville with a 72701 zip. Later, and at the closing I was told the actual address is Fayetteville with a 72703 zip. Great, now all my fowarded mail is likely lost. So I go back to the post ofice and fill out more paper work. Mail starts to trickle in. On mail with both 72701 and 72703 there is a note to try 72764. What the ...? So during trick or treat as a neighbor welcomed me to the neighborhood I asked about the zip. Come to find out it is 72764 and by the way I live in Springdale instead of Fayetteville. WHAT??? How can a builder and the bank and the realtors not know what city a property is in? Or is the Post Office switching the zip for convenience? I need answers. The house is clearly shy of the Springdale city limits. It is in Springdale school districts but water, sewage, garbage collection are all through the city of Fayetteville. I've got no idea where I am! Back to the post office for round three. I guess I can forget about ever getting that copy of STOP AND LISTEN I just bought.
  18. Joe mentioned John Cleary. I saw him recently in Baton Rouge. His band played on the same night as Righteous Buddha and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. I didn't mention him before because I didn't know if anyone knew about him. He's English but has that Dr John, Professor Longhair flavor as if he grew up in the Quarter. What did you think about his guitarist? Has a full size guitar ever looked any smaller?
  19. I've been hearing about STOP AND LISTEN for a while and just bought it from a board member. I can't wiat until I finally get to hear it.
  20. Sold my copy of THE GIGOLO because it was supposed to be released as an RVG. Where is THE GIGOLO?? For God's sake someone give me back my GIGOLO!!
  21. Initially, I thought of I GOT THAT FEELIN', COLD SWEAT, and SUPER BAD but after a quick visit to JB Greatest Hits I really like what's happenin underneth SAY IT LOUD and HOT PANTS Final verdict (tonight) SUPER BAD
  22. Grant Green is the man but the best "Grant Green" I've heard is on MIDNIGHT CREEPER and is, of course... GEORGE BENSON!!! First time I heard that one I thought to myself, "WOW Grant is really smiking on this one." only to look at the liner notes and was floored. George's playing on UPTOWN and COOKBOOK as well as Lonnie Smith's LIVE AT THE CLUB MOZAMBIQUE is always right on time.
  23. I threw George Benson a bone. First time I heard MIDNIGHT CREEPER I thought "damn Grant sure is on fire on this record" And of course it wasn't Grant but GB. Would like to here him with John Patton. Did they ever do anything together?
  24. OK greazers, I know there's a lot of new RVGs out there and the new Selects as well and the Conns on the way next week. So I'm offering a special!! I found an extra copy of Righteous Buddha's first disc Black , Blue and Bamboo lying around so the next person who gets their new one Get Right I will offer the first disc at the discounted price of $8. That's $18 for two disc of some real GREAZE, shipped to your door.
