Anyone know of a good place in Brooklyn to go for a new turntable cartridge that would also recalibrate my deck? Mine (a Music Hall) seems a little wonky, all told.
That particular Clarke-Boland LP is one of my favorites. I've got quite a bit of their work, and others might disagree with me (the Ronnie Scott's sessions, the Atlantics, and Faces also slay), but I come back to Off Limits a lot.
Yes...VERY nice, thank you.
All that hair.....you wonder how they could see what they were doing.
Thanks for the link - didn't recognise Barry Guy with the "Baldrick" coiffure
Great footage - thanks for the link!
I've got an LP of it pressed so off centre it's unlistenable. happy to part with for a reasonable price ...cover's nice....
I thought it was too good to be true when I tracked it down on ebay for less than £20 and it was too good to be true
BYG pressing?
My copy of Wilkerson's "Preach, Brother!" has the name John Patton written on the back in marker. Not sure if it's THAT John Patton, but fun to think about anyway...
I didn't see anything here noting his recent passing, which I discovered when looking up information following the purchase of his "Double Bass" LP.
Link here.
If I'm posting erroneously, feel free to close down this thread, but I didn't see a previous posting.
The BNs are tight soul-jazz, quite airplay-ready, with Wilkerson as the only horn. That said, I like them, though they are quite different from the Riverside date (which I only have on CD). Seems like you scored a nice copy.
