  1. Bump. Shipping on the weekend.
  2. Much to my surprise, it hasn't worked on the Joachim Kuhn and Karl Berger recordings.
  3. Wow. Back when I was shorter/skinnier (i.e., teenager) I went on a number of spelunking trips with other budding science nerds. It was really interesting, though we never saw anything quite like that!
  4. That list is mighty long.
  5. Whoa. RIP.
  6. Never seen the twofer of these titles, just separate LPs. Quite enjoyable music though I have yet to score originals.
  7. A little madness while I sip on a cold one and leaf through a friend/mentor's latest art monograph... Rolf Kuhn - Going to the Rainbow (BASF) Rolf & Joachim Kuhn - Monday Morning (HorZu)
  8. Your dad digs GMIII and Paul Bley??? NICE! Yeah, he does. I think Evolution is more his speed than Some Other Stuff, but he's a big fan of 50s/60s jazz.
  9. I got books and gave music to my dad: Grachan Moncur III - Some Other Stuff - (BN RVG) Paul Bley - Footloose/Syndrome - (Savoy/Gambit) He's happy!
  10. I liked his East Coast Cool disc. An intriguing player.
  11. There wasn't a Vol. 2 released as far as I can tell.
  12. Coincidently I had both of these lps out recently. My copy of Ekaya has a different colored cover (brown) on the Ekapa label. Not directed at me but I like the Sweet Basil recording a lot. Wish I had vol.2 (assuming there was one).
  13. Oh wow. RIP.
  14. Van Gelder ? Sounds like you might have the much rarer Rajiv Gandhi stamp son.
  15. We should be typing Ch-rles M-ngus in any case, until we get that permission.
  16. You know, the first time I interviewed Bill Dixon, back in 2004 or so, I also spoke to some musicians that had formerly worked with him. To put it mildly, none of them thought he was an "easy" guy to work with, but they were all glad they had the experience. I suspect the same is true with the (arguably more eccentric) Beefheart.
  17. Robert Wyatt - Old Rottenhat - (Rough Trade)
  18. Do you dig that "Live at Sweet Basil"? Seconded recommendation for that one. It's really nice.
  19. That was one I was thinking of - yeah, I remember liking it quite a bit.
  20. Ed Curran - Elysa - (Savoy)
  21. There was one on Sunnyside from around 2003/2004 that I remember liking, too. Probably let it go in the great pre-moving CD clear-out of 2005. He played in lots of good settings, from St. Louis onward.
  22. This is great news, Allen. In a related vein, Bill Dixon was on the Vermont Arts Council (or something like that) board at one point. However, the state of Vermont never recognized him for his work, and the state arts grants he applied for were always turned down. So there you go.
  23. Juergen Gleue - Phantom Payn Daze - (De Stijl)
