  1. Vangelis made some good records though, including one with Brian Odgers and Tony Oxley. Aphrodite's Child is pretty sweet as well. New Age is a pretty wide range, much of it pretty interesting, and I would hardly put Laraaji or Schawkie Roth in the same category as the G. Yanni and John Tesh are commercial lite music and that's another thing entirely. G is sorta in there and sorta not.
  2. Cool.
  3. Bird Show Band -- s/t -- Amish good little record with Jim Baker, Josh Abrams, Dan Bitney, John Herndon, and Ben Vida.
  4. Damn. RIP.
  5. Anybody else have problems with the vinyl set? My LP 1 is unplayably warped and has a gouge at the end of one side. I wonder how easy it is to get a replacement disc from Verve/UMG?
  6. No Pedro Iturralde? Also, Tino Contreras is Mexican and most of his recordings were made in Mexico. the Dusko inclusion is a little weird too, with "Bosnia Calling," but at least he was part of the scene in Barcelona at one point.
  7. Good question. Home is awesome; I feel like it could use a remaster (rhythm section seems a little 'distant' on the LP) if possible, but the music is super. And the Roy Brooks is essential.
  8. oof -- hope he's ok. I knew he had a parent die in the last couple of years, with whom he was very close. moderna boost today, feel ok but will probably feel less ok tomorrow.
  9. ordered the LP set, curious as to how up to par the vinyl is. Been burnt on some major label pressings of late.
  10. Losing my Tampas this late in my career....
  11. if it were west coast jazz-focused and penned for our beloved Chewy, it could be titled "Send In The Crowns"
  12. Wow, this is great!
  13. Yeah, I love Expression. Some of the first Coltrane I ever heard. regarding the session with Marion Brown above, I'd also read that Marion played alto on some of it. Too bad that the session is probably completely lost.
  14. I agree, they're both excellent. I usually don't get too excited about the Wynton Kelly Trio with Cobb, but Joe seems to bring things up a notch.
  15. I've had that one before. Isn't Sonny Clark on some of it (uncredited)?
  16. I was there too! It was superb. Have my booster scheduled for this week.
  17. Wow, major. RIP.
  18. that is a good one!
  19. those celebritynetworth clickbait sites are usually not accurate.
  20. Affinity -- s/t - (Paramount, US pressing of Vertigo orig)
  21. Damn. That's sad news.
  22. yeah that is a superb set. Had the CD box and unloaded it once the LPs came out.
