  1. Blue (spruce) Mitchell
  2. According to wikipedia, he died in August 2002.
  3. Lone Pine Jr (Lenny Breau)
  4. Juni(per) Booth
  5. The US pressing noise wasn’t catastrophic but it was there - the ones I have are 70s pressings so the ‘oil crisis’ could have been a factor.
  6. The stereo LP in stereo sleeve versions are no doubt ‘rare as hen’s teeth’.
  7. Ike Quebec ‘Heavy Soul’ (BN NY USA, mono)
  8. Ha - that photo of Teddy with the comb-over on ‘Further Explorations’ caught my eye too. Great, solid bassist.
  9. Fantastic version of ‘Think Of Me’ from that album played by Eddie Henderson’s Quartet on BBC radio last week, at a recent concert in Birmingham, UK.
  10. RIP - Great with Booker, Watkins and LH&R. Always regret not picking up that Prestige ‘Soulful Piano’ 2LP when I found a copy.
  11. I’ll buy that. Being 1965, mono was still the ‘norm’ over here, of course. Most of these would have been destined for radiograms !
  12. Don’t have any of the 180gs but the original Metheny German ECMs are all dead quiet and with exemplary sonics. I do have a couple of North American ‘original’ ECMs which are nowhere near as good - significant noise. The one I particularly like on the original ECM vinyl is ‘Rejoicing’. Billy Higgins never sounded better.
  13. Mine is just the same (sleeve says mono but definitely stereo). They must have had. quality control issue that day !
  14. Can’t believe it has taken me so long to hear this one. It’s brilliant. Agreed !
  15. All-time worst cover art !
  16. Not a bad find today for £3 !
