  1. Yep, when I saw these advertised I didn’t hesitate. Later era Grant Green is very underestimated. My local independent has two stores and it turns out that each store had one copy of each GG. If I had known I could have saved myself a queue and a scrum and gone to the more local store ! That side 2 ‘How Insensitive’ on ‘Slick !’ is great !
  2. Ha ! Just playing side 2 myself, good stuff. Side A is pretty short though. Picked up a copy of the other Grant Green 3LP too after a queue and almighty scrum at the racks this morning but it was worth it. Most stores only had one copy of each I think. Today is officially ‘Grant Green Day’.
  3. Miles Davis ‘Jack Johnson’ box, CD 5.
  4. I picked up my vinyl copy of the Condon towards the tail end of that run, i recall. Probably when it hit ‘last chance’.
  5. Big John Patton, Smoke NYC, July 2001 (3CDs)
  6. If you wanted that one, Scott had a test pressing available at the Sale. Might be worth asking if it is still available.
  7. Wow ! It’s like Southern California out here today, couldn’t be better. Only a few weeks ago we had snow on the ground ourselves ! Hottest April day in these isles for 70 years !
  8. Very Happy Birthday Erik !
  9. Happy Birthday !
  10. 2.7 Watts? That wouldn’t rip the skin off a rice pudding..
  11. I rememember when that DMM of ‘Straight, No Filter’ came out. Talk about unearthing a lost gem ! Same with ‘The Rajah’.
  12. Looks like Tolliver to me ! Definitely not Howard McGhee. That McGhee video with the Bird tribute was from BBC ‘Jazz 625’ in 1964, I think. McGhee must have been just starting his comeback, after being away from the scene for some years. On the video there seems to be some verbal sparring going on with Sonny Stitt, wonder what the story was with that one. He plays very nicely though. He also ran a mid-60s big band, I recall. Have an LP of that one on Hep (‘Cookin’ Time’).
  13. That’s my reading of it too. Looks like they are cutting back on having lots of inventory in stock to a more limited stock model. As long as the sets still keep coming out - whatever it takes ! The Beehive set is a very enjoyable collection covering a neglected period - the sort of project that Mosaic does very well indeed. Recommended !
  14. Nope non-Vulcan. In fact, I can’t even recall when/where I got it. I need to retire like the rest of you guys to get some serious listening in !!
  15. Great compilation ! In fact, that whole series was consistently good.
  16. Japanese Victor mono facsimile
  17. Test pressing set. Sound is phenomenal - blows the CD version away (great though that is). Followed by..
  18. Ridiculous price !!
  19. That JATP LP on the floor, LHS looks interesting. Plus at least one Mosaic big box holding out on the racks, by the looks of it. Good luck with the move !
  20. My Teddy Wilson set has arrived - copy no. 69. Came with a Louis Armstrong Live test pressing vinyl box, which I got from Scott at the sale. Some geat listening coming up !
