  1. These Cosmic Myth reissues sound pretty cool. No doubt tons of Evidence CDs will flood the market as their catalogue expands.
  2. Jazztet 'Another Git Together' (Mercury)
  3. I am finding that carefully pushing in the teeth on those offending disk 2s and then equally carefully rotating the disk loose usually does the trick. Real pain in the neck though.
  4. Interestingly, my LP copy is on German Saba, who must have come to a similar deal to the one Transatlantic had around that time with Prestige. It has the same cover but the Saba label imprint.
  5. Saw her as part of another band last month - playing trumpet, flugel and......first time apparently.. harmonium !! That Naim CD is in my local store at decent price so will pick up a copy. On vinyl too, I believe.
  6. Those were the days.. Curently getting into training and will hopefully be joining you guys on the 'daytime shift' in a few years time. I have a backlog of Mosaics as job number 1.
  7. I too was wondering about her and am very sorry to hear this. Wishing her well and comfort - if I remember correctly she (her character that is) is featured in that Tina Turner bio movie and also gets a mention in Wayne Shorter's autobiography. Her insightful posts are missed !
  8. My 'timewarp' set from seller bluenotesounds. Set number 33 - CD1. The LP set sound is perhaps a wee bit crisper but I'm not complaining !
  9. Gee Sam Gee Sam Gangee Smeagle
  10. Stan Tracey specifically mentioned Thompson and Byas as being very difficult to work with, in the mid-60s period when he was 'house' pianist at Scotts. I think Ronnie might also have made words to that effect in print. Hadn't heard comments to that effect about Brew Moore. For a guy as flexible and accomodating as Tracey to say that, he must have been difficult. There again, there is that amiable monologue from 1968 on the tape to Mark Gardner which appears on the Candid release, which gives an entirely different impression. An enigma !
  11. Carol Bayer Sager Carole King King Pleasure
  12. That one (Herman. Select) forms a very good combo with the 'Woody's Winners' Mosaic Single CD, sadly also OOP.
  13. Lots of folklore influences on those old CBS Realm covers. I guess that whole thing was 'in the air' at the time (in fact it was - I remember it). Other examples I cam think of are the Ray Russell 'Dragon Hill' and 'Rights and Rituals'. Round my part of the country I can think of at least a couple of spots which to this day are named after old highwayman hanging spots. Prominent spots as a lesson to the locals and travellers.
  14. Amazing how Sonny Fortune used to (and sound likes he still does) appear unexpectedly at gigs (at least to me). I had a couple of experiences like that when he was with Elvin Jones. Charles Tolliver sideman appearances were similar.
