  1. Presumably the same source as the similar titles for the Music Matters 2x45rpms? - if so, they should be great.
  2. Thanks for that - much to my regret I missed this exhibition, well worth seeing by the look of it. Pretty sure I walked past the shop when it was boarded up ready for demolition in 1981 and think I paid one or two visits before that as their paper and plastic bags look very familiar. Too bad that I didn't save them !
  3. Tommy Smith 'Peeping Tom' (Blue Note) Damn fine session with Jason Rebello (piano) and signed on the front by Tommy !
  4. Clarke/Boland Big Band 'At Her Majesty's Pleasure' (Black Lion). Another phenomenal sounding big band album on a very modest pressing.
  5. Howlin Wolf Muddy Waters Blind Lemon Pie
  6. Re-spin: My faith in vinyl now ressurected after azimuth aligning the Aro arm into its sweet spot. Struth !
  7. Those 'Club Diary' pages at the back of the old Jazz News are jaw-droppingly impressive. Hayes, Harriott, Morrissey, McNair et al as routine listings. Nice to see the more recent 'Jazz UK's on there. I have quite a few in hard copy - this will fill in some gaps. Cheers !
  8. And with these guys (aurochs) in line to be DNA-reconstituted, life on The Plain could revert again to 3500 BC !
  9. CD4. The sound on this set has stood up surprisingly well. The vinyl will stay on the shelf !
  10. Gerald Wilson Orchestra of the 80s 'Jessica' (Trend)
  11. I find this whole thing to be very sad. RIP to both of them.
  12. Mary Berry - well into her 80s, vintage writer of cookery books turned TV superstar (well, UK superstar). Darcey Bussell - ex ballerina lead with Royal Ballet and poised to be the new head judge on 'Strictly' (so they tell me ). Both of the above extremely popular over here !
  13. Hope it was good !
  14. RIP, way too young of course. He had a big health scare back in 2011 that could have finished him then, which seemed ominous at the time.
  15. Beats me - I never watch it. Enormously popular though, appealing to the same demographic that gets equally worked up and manic over Strictly Come Dancing.. While some of us are spinning our Tina Brooks disks the rest of the country is praying at the altar of Mary Berry and Darcey Bussell.
  16. Plus a good article about the history of All Change, including the Baker St shops. Only remember going once, in the pre Mole days, very well stocked with Impulses etc. All Change
  17. Merry Xmas MG and forum members !
  18. There's a bit about it here John. Merry Xmas ! Ronnie Scotts Record Shop
  19. Wow - didnt realise the 'Unicorn' CD was so valuable.
  20. I'm sure that Esquire of 'Olio' sounds great !
  21. My favourites for this year: 'Larry Young In Paris - The ORTF Recordings' (Resonance) Hadley Caliman - 'Projecting' and 'Celebration'/ The Catalyst Years (Fresh Sound) Sun Ra 'The Singles' (Strut) Miles Davis 'Freedom Jazz Dance - Bootleg Series Vol 5' Tubby Hayes 'Split Kick - Live In Sweden' (Savage Solveig) Peter Erskine Trio 'As It Was' (ECM box set) Charlie Parker 'Unheard Bird' (Verve) Tim Garland 'One' (Edition) plus - add the Resonance Thad Jones/Mel Lewis once I have picked up a copy !
  22. A good box to digest for the Xmas hols !
  23. The 'Machinations' sometimes gets a pretty lukewarm response, probably due to some dated guitar sounds on it. Count me in as a fan though too - boring it isn't !
  24. Yep - 'Super Blonde', 'A Call For Demons' etc. are the well known versions and the Hattie Randolph 'Round Midnight' has also been reissued by Evidence, for example. Great to have them in this set though - they sound pretty stunning.
