  1. Thanks for the clarification Chris - That would indeed be good if they include the 'Magic Garden' single, which is indeed a strong performance. Alrhough I have myriad versions of this release already I might well pick up a copy of this particular LP. Wish someone would put out that video of the BBC performance by this band where they do 'Original Peter' with the hand balancing act. A third hand video is reputedly out there but I've never seen it, although I think I saw, just by chance, the original BBC broadcast back in the day (one of those BBC2 arty farty shows).
  2. All the very best ! If ever there is a good reason to take the day off - that is it. Lovely set. If ever there is a good reason to take the day off - that is it. Lovely set.
  3. Happy Birthday and good listening !
  4. Belated Happy Birthday and congrats on the WAG !
  5. Indeed, Happy Birthday to Mr Sheldon !
  6. The Duke Pearson will be in heavy usage at my place - courtesy of the Pearson Mosaic Select. A really nice album !
  7. Chesty Morgan Morgan The Pirate Long John Baldry
  8. Ah well.... another year perhaps..
  9. I have a vinyl copy of that 'Tyger', will have to dig it out. That and 'Love Songs' are Mike's most sought after items on vinyl (although I think 'Marching Songs', 'Metropolis' and 'Release' may now have caught up). Interesting that 'Love Songs' is coming out again on vinyl - weren't there permission problems with the Vocalion CD for that title when it came out? It should sell well on LP - the crate diggers love that one.
  10. The only order to my Mosaic collection is that all of the CBS sets are together, all of the Miles sets are together, same with the Atlantics, Emarcy/Roulettes and Blue Notes. Otherwise, it is random. One of these days I will morph into the Mosaic equivalent of the late UK comedian Bob Monkhouse, start annotating the Mosaic catalogues and hire a librarian/'curator' !
  11. Oliver Nelson 'Dedication Series/3 Dimensions' (MCA Impulse 2LPs). Fine reissue by M Cuscuna, no complaints whatsoever about the sonics.
  12. Yusef Lateef 'The Golden Flute' (Impulse, stereo)
  13. Travesty - I would insist on a pitcher or 3 of Rickard's Red. With a bucket of hot wings..
  14. Sold out in Rays when I checked yesterday..
  15. Fontana UK (stereo). Walked right past the Needle today so in recognition of Mr Ross I had a sit at the base , albeit at the other side. These is some shrapnel damage to the base due to a 1917 WW1 aerial bomb, the first of the war to hit London apparently !
  16. Good one. That's the album on which he started to show his Devon roots.
  17. Hope to give it a shot !
  18. Hope it isn't raining too hard.. Happy Birthday !
  19. 1981- sounds about right. Priced on the back at 2000 yen, a small fortune back then. Just shows that the correlation between vinyl thickness and potential sound quality can often be dubious at best, not to mention the lack of a 'deep groove'.
  20. They are suprisingly thin - yet I'll wager that this one sounds at least as good as a pristine original, if not better. Re-appraising my Kings and Toshibas. I guess that the recent sonic upgrade has really helped, plus some reconfiguration of my phono stage location and supply switching. Still a great and welcome surprise though ! UK CBS mono.
