Their circuit layouts and wiring are pretty unfussy and very old-school. I took the Superline apart at the weekend to tighten up the BNC connectors and as an old fart electronics engineer it was a pleasure to see so many discrete components and hard-wired solder links.
Linn certainly did some great recent upgrades to the LP12 (Keel and Radikal for example). Never been a great fan of their amps..
I think the quality of the solos is fine - I like Felder and Henderson. I find that in these sessions they have a sort of 'Texan' style to their soloing which is quite appealling. Straight to the point and no BS. Sample too - much less 'flowery' than he later became.
Naim audio a part.
Amen, porcy. My first Naim Audio solid state amp (NAC 72) was actually bought in North America - I've stuck with them ever since. Big plus is that they offer a myriad of good upgrade options.
They are around £150. Precision built/tested with metallic foil element to do the resistive matching. So - in relative terms compared with some of the high precision valve amps out there etc - no.
Interesting that all 3 of those John Lewis Atlantics have just come out over here on CD in the 1000 Yen series - I wonder if someone has just 'upgraded' and dumped their vinyl?
Always our gain..
What does that do, exactly? I've never heard of an air plug.
Naim Audio impedance matching component for SuperLine (in this case resistive, no capacitance). Needs to match the moving coil cartridge impedance characteristics.
