I've just ordered the 'Sun Ship' (as well as a few of the other LP sets). It will be interesting to see how it compares with my early-70s (original?) LP.

I agree with the London Atlantics. A good example is the John Coltrane 'Giant Steps' mono. Fantastic sonics on that one.

Yeah, Mr Tanno's store was something special. Don't think I ever got an LP from him which was less than a smidgeon off of mint. Even his 'Mint minus minus' gradings were what I would call 'Mint'.

Yes, I like the way he mixes the flute voicings with (cup?) muted trombones. A tad formulaiic? - perhaps.... not dis-similar to some of theThad Jones arrangements for Count Basie though ('Speaking of Sounts' etc.) I have the Nelson Mosaic currently 'up' for protracted listening in the car over the next week.

Lovely album! I just have the Japanese pressing on Philips but it's in stereo and not a single crack or pop to be heard so I won't complain too much Never heard a copy of the the Japanese reissue LP - only the BGO CD, which sounds pretty good to my ears. Fortunately, this copy was bought before prices hit the stratosphere.

Those were the days...Most of my King and Toshiba LPs came from the great Mr Tanno's store.
