Yes, Crete can be lovely - especially inland but avoiding the fleshpots of Ag Nik and Chania. The people are great too. Island hopping off Dubrovnik is also lovely e,g, around Korcula. Must go back there (last time I visited Tito was still in power and all the hotels were state-owned ).

Mr Tanno used to be a good source of the Kings and Toshibas. Too bad that he retired.. 1970s United Artists reissues can often be very good sound for the price. The Music Matters 2x45rpm sound nice too (although not cheap).

Really must get hold of that one. Those were the days. I think my copy was unplayed too - picked it up along with a mono Duke Pearson 'Sweet Honey Bee' in similar shape. According to Honest Jon's they had been sitting in a US store-room for about 30 years.

Wish they'd kept it in print. Finding a reasonably priced copy is now mission impossible. This location recording by the Ratledge/Wyatt/Hopper/Dean lineup, done in Norway, is pretty interesting. Released by Reel as a 2CD with bonus CD-ROM including essays.

Lovely set! MG I've got the Gerald Wilson tracks 1-80ish on alphabetical order play in the car at the moment and have been enjoying every bit of it. Some of the transitions at the end of the live tracks sound a bit bizarre though in this play-order..
