  1. There's also a 1950s Swedish film (or is it Danish?) where he's in the backing group for Stan Getz. Filmed in a countryside location, from what I can remember. This one perhaps? http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldaterkammerater
  2. Tate Modern on the South Bank (not far from RFH) should be a 'shoe-in' then (and its free - at least for the main galleries).
  3. This is great news and no great suprise - about 6/7 years ago I asked Charles Tolliver at a panel session before his big band concert held in London if there were any more Mosaic Selects planned of the Strata-East material. He said at the time he was hoping that a Select of the Clifford Jordan sessions would be arranged. A bit of a delay but looks like they've gone one better than that. Plus the cats whiskers, squared... Something tells me this set will sell well, too.
  4. Carlos Castenada Graham Hancock Erich Von Daniken
  5. Amazingly, I used his book of Daily Telegraph jazz reviews as a critical review of what to buy back in the 1970s ! A very entertaining read, although by then much of the review content had been deleted (old Esquire and Stateside LPs etc.)
  6. John Cougar Mellenkamp Catherine Zeta-Jones Jones The Butcher
  7. Sparky Ray Cathode Maddalena Faggandini
  8. 'Columbia Small Group Swing Sessions 1953-62'. Starting with Disc VI - 'Bean and the Boys'
  9. Clifford - Just checked the latest Jazzwise listings. 14-21 Sept looks a little bit scarce for major London listings, with the main action for once being out of town. There is a short festival on at Kings Place (located on 90 York Way so handy from Euston/Kings Cross) on 14-15th with Martin Speake, Ian Ballamy, Dave Stapleton and Jason Rebello's groups in the lineup. Might be worth checking out. Magnus Ostrom is on at Ronnie Scotts 16-17 Sept and there's the big band of Gareth Lockrane at the 606 Club (90 Lots Road, SW10) on 15th Sept. If they can get out to Isleworth, Trevor Tomkins' group with Henry Lowther, Stan Sultzman, Dave Green & co. is on at the Red Lion pub on the 16th (Trevor's regular venue I believe). Drummer Asaf Sirkis' group is on at the Vortex on the 16th by the look of it.
  10. One of the best of the Singles IMO - and they did a very good job with the sound. Essential.. Is it my imagination or has the Bechet returned from the dead in 'Last Chance'?
  11. Many thanks for all your best wishes, guys It was a good birthday and I am spinning the Mosaics into a second day of hol. Still hope to get back out Stockholm again Daniel to check out that nice Glenn Miller Cafe once more - It's on my list ! Give me a shout if/when you are over here in the UK.
  12. Princess Margaret was a regular back in the day - although she was a genuine fan of the likes of Ella and Sarah Vaughan, by all accounts.
  13. Bud Shank Pacific Jazz Studio Sessions (CD)
  14. Horrors!!! Don't tell me that Ronnie Scott's would have presented the G Man! The old Scott/King regime - no chance whatsoever. Not sure that the same can be said of the present regime though.
  15. Thanks guys . Took the day off work in celebration and there will be many vinyls and Mosaics spun today. And as an added bonus the weather is fabulous outside. Thanks - that's what birthdays are for. Mosaic funds replenished. I've got a couple of Selects on order.
  16. No doubt Kenny G was on when she visited..
  17. I have all of it on vinyl and most on CD but it will be good to have the 'Cosmos' stuff on CD. Some great music on this Select. The Mulligan is much more of an unknown entity to me.
  18. Looks like the Gerry Mulligan Select is now on 'Last Chance'. I've ordered it and the McCoy from the 'Spanish Connection'.
  19. Windy Miller Jonathan Miller Mulgrew Miller
  20. Yikes !! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/10284686/Testicle-munching-fish-now-found-in-River-Seine-in-Paris.html Getting a bit close for comfort..
