Bizarre ! Mines the 'Jazz Life' version too.

If I remember correctly, there's a photo of the Jazz Interactions Orchestra in the Mosaic booklet taken by our very own Brownie. Will have to check..

The best one's I ever heard on Inner City were the Art Farmer East Winds ('To Duke With Love' and 'The Summer Knows' - still have them). Although I'm sure that the original East Winds would sound superlative.

Great - I'll have to check the film out.

Just watched the Last Shop Standing DVD, on a complimentary copy from Graham Jones of Proper Music lent to me by an ex-jazz guitarist neighbour who has known Graham since his youth. The film was very good on the decline of record shops, less convincing in its final optimistic section. Great to see Spillers in Cardiff, made famous on this board through MG's posts and King Bee Records of Manchester, which I only visited after Richard Davenport wrote about it here. Virtually no mention of jazz, of course, with the exception of the Brummie record store owner who seemed fascinated by Slim Gaillard imitating a chicken on record. Is Acorn Records of Yeovil featured on the film Bill? Many a good record bought there 'back in the day', although their speciality was more on the prog rock side of things. They've always kept a nice jazz selection going too - courtesy of 'Proper'.

Interesting. Especially the bit about 'paying off' the amount due for the 1970s recordings only decades later. Jeez !

Miles Davis 'On The Corner'. It took me about 10 years and then the pennies clicked !

Doesn't make sense - all of the individual CDs are available (some are OOP but still easy to pick up) - nothing rare or exclusive about that I was lucky enough to get Andrew to autograph the set when he played here in Brisbane in the late 90's It's the vinyl version, hence the price. Andrew signed my CD set too a few years after that. Nice guy, a pleasure to chat with.

I'd probably agree with that. He's a major plus on 'We Want Miles'. I saw that band at the Hammersmith Odeon London on Miles' first UK gig since 1969 - early 80s. The sense of anticipation in the audience that night was incredible. Stern on guitar was quite a suprise for much of the crowd, very loud and reminded me of a sort of 'Van Halen with substance'. I saw him again about 20 years later at a club in LA, with Bob Malach on tenor and Alex Blake on bass (I think). Very good performance and extremely enjoyable. Totally different in style/feel to the earlier Miles gig and a much more mature/reflective performance. He had that black turtle-neck sweater on that night too ! (he ought to do a swap with Pat Metheny's French onion seller shirt )

That's the same cover art as my UA (USA) copy too. Wonder what 'wall to wall stereo' is?
