  1. Is jazz dead? Can't believe we are discussing this stuff !
  2. Walked past the theatre that one was recorded in a short while back (Cochrane Theatre in Bloomsbury). Doesn't look to have changed that much from the photo shown in that Camden CD.
  3. Billie Piper Piper at the Gates of Dawn Rufus Harley
  4. Disc 1 - Praying with Eric. Ditto !
  5. Wow - got hold of my box today after paying the Danegeld (pre-ordered and the box-numbering is already up to 950-something ). They even managed to damage the shipping box ! Have just listened to the first Town Hall CD so far but it is fantastic - much better fidelity than I remember. The 'So Long Eric' and 'Praying With Eric' are outstanding performances. As is Jaki Byard's intro piano feature. Nice booklet and essays too. Sue Mingus even gives a mention to us 'non-Facebook emailers' !
  6. Just noticed that they have free shipping within the EU too over a certain amount. Looks like I'll be joining you ! These guys have definitely noticed and addressed a gap in the market.
  7. Doris Karloff John Sergeant Victoria Pendleton
  8. This bit of Sun Ra does it for me:
  9. Even though I have a vinyl of this one I'll probably also go for the CD. Only 'Dejeuner Sur L'Herbe' to go - interestingly it is those various rare UK Verves of the period that are taking an eternity to be reissued on CD ('Phil Seamen - Now!', Colin Bates 'Brew' come to mind as well as 'Dejeuner'). I wonder what the problem is with those?

  16. That's very interesting to hear, Clunky. They've obviously tightened up big time on us poor 'modest-package' shipment types - easy cash-cow target. I hear that they are not giving charities a discount this Xmas either. With there was an economy option to these suckers.. If it was just the (lowish) £4 import tax that I had to cough-up it would be OK. £8 for giving them the privilege of picking up the box and giving it a blessing is ludicrous though ! That sounds good to me. Thanks for the advisory ! They already have the Mingus set in stock, for anyone interested.
  17. Tiny Rowlands Sir 'Jams' Goldsmith Lord Gnome
  18. Very cool . Wish I lived a bit nearer to Derby !
  19. Good to hear. My set has apparently reached the PO but those f**tards at Royal Mail are charging me £12 import duty of which £8 is a 'handling charge'. Sadly, as a result of this I'll probably look at ordering future sets from that Jazz Messengers place in Barcelona. They seem to have most of the Mosaics in stock and there's no BS on imports. Never thought I'd see the day that Royal Mail was as bad as Canada Post but that day has arrived !
  20. Still waiting for mine to turn up in the mail. Any longer and I'll turn appoplectic !
  21. That might well be my 'Xmas box' to self. Excellent deal !
  22. Happy Birthday !
