  1. Still have my copy of that one too. Raised quite a stir when it came out on Island (I remember Richard Williams did a great Melody Maker article on it).
  2. The only place I've ever seen the 'Dave Burns' on sale was in a record store in NYC. About $20 - but sadly it was beat up. Both of the Burns have been out on reissue vinyl though during the 2000s.

Strange that they didn't combine 'Russo In London' with 'Stonehenge'. Good to see this one out on CD, nevertheless !
  4. I had a ticket for the Bristol gig (Colston Hall) on that tour but was snowed in and never got within 50 miles of it !
  5. Just got my notice. Banana boat beckons !
  6. Same here - Happy Birthday Porcy !
  7. Many Happy Returns - Have a Great day !
  8. Always really liked his playing on this one too. I think it was the first album I ever heard that featured Ted Curson in the lineup (some of the tracks at least). 'Little Lees' in particular - courtesy of that great Cecil Taylor Blue Note/UA twofer set.
  9. Thanks for the heads-up !
  10. Fine player who handled the hard bop/free transition territory with rare aplomb. Only sorry I didn't get to see him play in person - RIP. Time to dig out the Mingus Candid Mosaic to reflect on his work. Plus that fantastic work he did on various Beehive LPs (Sal Nistico, Nick Brignola).
  11. Some of them took a trip to the States for me to track down. Lalo Schifrin case in point !
  12. Tony Williams 'Angel Street' (BN DMM)
  13. Didn't he co-own Nocturne Records with Roy Harte? Sounds like a 'highly probable'.
  14. That one was in one of Alan's boxes at Swanage I think ! I'm sure he also had the one with the Jones Brothers - or was it the Gillespie 'Perception'?
  15. Pussy Galore Cat Stevens Lord Rees-Mogg
  16. Lester Piggott Ken Dodd Asil Nadir
  17. Curtis Fuller 'With Red Garland' (New Jazz purple lable)
  18. Sailor Ted Farmer Jim Maggie Thatch
  19. Teddy Charles Ted Heath (politician) Ted Heath (bandleader)
  20. Upwards of £50 in good nick for the UK versions and probably more for the Dutch Fontanas. I've got several of them - I think I picked the Dollar Brand one up for about £7 ! Isn't the Marion Brown cover art taken from a Brownie photo? (I'm sure I remember him mentioning it). any preference for monos vs stereos in this series ( where they exist in both) ? I think I prefer the stereos for all of the Fontana pressings (example - some of the Tubby Hayes LPs, I think I have both mono and stereo for '100% Proof' and the stereo wins hands down). With respect to the Marte Rolling sleeve LPs I think only the Dollar Brand of the ones I have is in mono. The rest (Cursons, Mohawk, Russell etc.) are in stereo.
  21. That's what I thought. There's mention of renovation. Perhaps it's in a rather old fashioned condition. Only one bedroom with en suite... Wish I had six hundred grand MG About the price of a 1-bed London slavebox (sans en-suite).
  22. Billy The Fish Roger Mellie Buster Gonad

  24. Very reasonable price for such a fine house. I remember reading about it in that Derek Ansell bio and by all accounts Griff loved it there. I guess there are purchase taxes to add on - 10/15%?
