  1. Stan Getz/Astrud Gilberto 'Au Go Go' (UK Verve, mono)
  2. What we need is one of those spoof Blue Note covers, with a small Reid Miles'ish photo of City of London high-rollin' ex-finance guys with bowler hats and umbrellas then 'BFT 60 Tickety-Boo' in nice big black font underneath it.
  3. Remember seeing that particular band when they toured the album in North America. Impressive stuff !
  4. Now all I need to do is to refuse to post the answers..
  5. Sounds like a pretty good deal on the Sonny Clark LP. Found today for £0.98 in Oxfam (good credit-crunch price that) - 'Americans In Europe Vol 1' VHS tape of rare video recordings of Konitz with Bill Evans, Basie in Stockholm, Mingus In Stuttgart 1971 etc. I nearly missed it amongst all the Peters and Lee, Nana Mouskouri tat etc.
  6. Whicker Island (Note the Bahamas by the way - looks like Studland Bay, Dorset with some plastic plants)
  7. A humungous pile of them at Waterstones in Bath !
  8. Whitby, Scarborough and Brid have some of the best fish & chips in the UK. Not forgetting Harry Ramsdens original place up on the outskirts of Bradford. Never saw fish and chips in the US but they were around in Canada - with whitefish subbing for the cod. I prefer the cod. marketisation of the brand has had some dreadful results! Yep - forget the plastic McFranchises ! The original plaice on the edge Ilkley Moor which has (had?) the 'posh' section with chandeliers is/was the biz !

  10. Yep, I 'proof listened' to both disks yesterday and it all sounds tickety-boo. CD1 is 14 tracks, CD2 is 13 tracks. Big Al's 'Master' goes out today so that we can get these up on the downloader. I'll include 2 master copies just in case there's a defective disk issue. Taking absolutely no chances.
  11. This is now definitely published (at least in the UK) as I checked with the publisher today. It's out there and in the racks, Roger !
  12. Happy Birthday Eric !
  13. Good news chaps - I hope to have the Master disks for the download off by mail to Big Al in the next 2 days. The postal customers should have theirs in the mail over the next few days. Just need to fine-tune the track selection..
  14. Some of her album cover art in LP days used to be nice ! :rsmile: this was one of the posters i had on my wall growing up: 'THATS THE ONE !!!! The local vinyl shop back in the day had that stuck on a poster near the door hence the drooling adolescent tongue hanging out when I wandered in !
  15. Sorry to hear that !
  16. Azimuth 'Azimuth '85' (ECM)
  17. I had a quick skim through it in the shops last weekend. £35 is a pretty steep price though, even for us . I'm suprised though that some long OOP items are given reviews, Alan Shorter's 'Orgasm' for example.
  18. I'd LOVE to see little category cards in a record shop "CONTORTIONIST FUNK EXOTICA A-F" "CONTORTIONIST FUNK EXOTICA G-M" "CONTORTIONIST FUNK EXOTICA N-R" "CONTORTIONIST FUNK EXOTICA S-Z" But only the G-M section would have anything in it MG You forgot "CONTORTIONIST FUNK EXOTICA VARIOUS ARTISTS"
  19. Stwike him Centurion !
  20. Some of her album cover art in LP days used to be nice ! :rsmile:
  21. My guess - in for the Paris concert only as he was resident in France. Damn - I'm jealous, BillF ! You can't believe how disappointed I was not to get to the 1978 concert (I was reliant on a car ride at the time and of course that was canned with the weather). I did get to see Evans at Ronnie Scotts a few years later though with his Brit Orchestra. Indeed, I got to sit pretty close to the Fender Rhodes piano that night.
  22. Welcome on board ! Just finalising the 'programme'. This will be a 2 disk BFT. Indeed, to fit it on 2 disks I may need to take off 1 or two tracks.
  23. The earliest thing I can remember playing is a 45rpm of WW2 Battle of Britain fighter aircraft dog-fight noises put out by Airfix I think. Work that one out !
