  1. The one to get is the vinyl Arista/Savoy twofer for the wonderful albums with Lucky Thompson ! 3 LPs are squeezed on there, I think.
  2. Damn, I want that one to slow down a little bit. It's going to be an expensive week !
  3. That may be the greatest album cover ever.
  4. Did it ever come out on UK Polydor?
  5. Knowing the state of British jazz at the time, I'm sure this title was 100% accurate.
  6. Slide Hampton 'Drum Suite' Real nice !
  7. I am glad I managed to resist the temptation. Based on what I know of your jazz taste Yves I would say that's a good decision. From what I'm hearing on CD1 though the set is a corker - very good sound, in depth research with input by the likes of Jeff Healey and the usual authoritative booklet. An ear-opening, jazz-broadening experience for me once again courtesy of Mosaic. NB - Quick perusal of the booklet shows a photo of Berigan with Annie Ross's aunt ! (Ella Logan)
  8. My Berigan has just arrived today. Set number 1930. Didn't realise I cut it so fine !
  9. Hmm. Just checked out the 'Users' page on the Keith Monk website: Very interesting ! Australian Broadcasting Corp. 10. Yeah, but you need a PhD in plumbing to service the thing ! Makes a VPI look cheap as chips too..
  11. And mine. Love it ! Anyway, less of Miele dishwashers and back to L'Art Du Son.
  12. Sonny Rollins 'East Broadway Rundown' (HMV mono)
  13. That's a big relief. I was starting to think that I was a total jazz thicko after first listen to the BFT disk.
  14. Anyone used this vinyl wash with their record cleaning machines? I'm thinking of giving it a shot - in place of the usual RRL liquids (which I am pleased with but L'Art Du Son looks quite a bit more economical). Thoughts and opinions most welcome !
  15. The Max Roach is one not to miss. Fantastic material with the Booker Little/George Coleman lineup and the band with the Turrentine brothers too. Great sounding set, recommended. I was hoping the Miles 63-64 wouldn't hit this list quite so fast.
  16. Robin Kenyatta 'Gypsy Man' and 'Terra Nova' (both Atlantic green/orange label). Interesting to see that they were produced by M. Cuscuna. Both better than expected - but patchy !
  17. Roy Eldridge Verve Studio CD set. Working my way from back to front on this magnificent collection.
  18. Yet another example of 'rip off Britain'. I've never even looked at this site - not that I'm into i-pod downloads in any way though. It's hard enough just keeping up with CDs, dime and vinyl.
  19. Didn't Miles claim that it was actually about Hendrix (and then say that in any case she was the biggest freak of all)?
  20. He also did a great Don Byas tribute gig with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra last August at the Northsea Festival.
  21. Can't say I've ever come across these guys.
