  1. The German Liberty is great sounding too - prefer it if anything to the Toshiba CD. "Vorsprung Durch Technik etc."
  2. I've always heard it pronounced (on the radio over here) 'Babbasin' - all short.
  3. The twofer is plural. It has all 4 sides with Tommy Turrentine. Two with Sonny Clark on piano and two with Horace Parlan !
  4. Just have the 'Blue Mode'. I've always found it a bit cookie-cutterish and uninspired but will give it another listen. The one thing I do like about it is the Mati Klarwein cover art.
  5. A couple of great Stanley Turrentine Blue Note twofers put out by Michael Cuscuna: 'Stanley Turrentine' and 'Jubilee Shouts' (Blue Label Liberty)
  6. Excellent track indeed - just the excuse I need to pull out the old twofer.
  7. I'm in for North Sea. Wasn't the plan also to drop by Darmstadt and check out the vinyl and videos in the Institut?
  8. Thanks for the heads up on 'Last Chance'. The Berigan set sounds like real fun and I'm getting more and more 'fuddy duddy' as the years pass so I've gone for the set. Also thrown in a Hill Solo Select, a Blackhawk vinyl and a Slide Hampton Drum Suite to hit the limit on the shipping .
  9. Hiroshi has (at least he did when I last looked) a CBS-Sony 2LP of 'Agharta' listed, if anyone is interested. Accept no substitutes !
  10. Bill Holman Band 'World Class Music'
  11. Have an impossibly great day !
  12. Some great Harold Mabern CDs on that label too. Dusty sometimes stocks them.
  13. Damn. Don't remind me that I should have picked this one up.
  14. An RVG would be really unlikely based on sales potential - I would say that this one was more of a 'Conn'. Really like this one, even though Tyrone does go off into 'honking' mode on occasion. Woody Shaw is his usual (great) self, worth hearing for him alone. I have the Toshiba CD (sounds great) and also a German Liberty LP pressing.
  15. Miles Davis 'Bitches Brew' (US Quadraphonic edition)
  16. Welcome to the board. Yes indeed, AH's death has certainly left a big shadow over the week. The news shouldn't have been unexpected under the circumstances but is hard because he had so much vital music still to give. Especially with a new Blue Note live session lined up. I'll dig out the CD of 'But Not Farewell' (and 'Eternal Spirit') during the week to remind myself just how good they were.
  17. Salad, sun-dried or on the vine?
  18. Followed by Miles Davis 'Get Up With It' - My old UK CBS orange-label 2LP set. Listening again to 'Calypso Frelimo'
  19. Miles Davis 'Pangaea' and 'Agharta' (both CBS-Sony 2LP)
  20. Happy Birthday !!!!
  21. Interesting George Braith Plastylite mono test pressing currently up on ebay. Leonard Feather's copy apparently - has his notes scribbled on it in preparation for his back cover liner notes. One for Mr Soul Stream perhaps? Soul Stream Test Pressing
