  1. Kenton/Holman/Russo LP set. LPs 1 and 2 spinning. Fine sound on this set !
  2. "subsonic genito-resonant frequencies"
  3. Thanks MG - I've just switched my machine to the Blue Mitchell.
  4. Somehow the 'Office Space' movie seemed to pass me by when it originally came out but just caught it on TV. For anyone who works/has worked for a hi tech/software operation it will all look very, very familiar. Whilst souring the internet I also came across this neat Lumbergh sound board 'accessory'. Lumbergh Sound Board
  5. Much more familiar with his work in the late '60s/early '70s, essentially pre-Colosseum. I like him with the pianists, and he's solid on the Jack Bruce Things We Like LP. Maybe he took a turn for the worse later. That Jack Bruce is nice indeed - but the way he played with Colosseum or the United Jazz & Rock Ensemble bores me. Check out his playing with Neil Ardley/New Jazz Orchestra and the Mike Taylor Trio. Excellent ! Much more rock-oriented later on, although I quite like his playing with Barbara Thompson (Mrs Hiseman) in 'Paraphenalia'.
  6. Donald Byrd 'A New Perspective' (BN NY USA mono) Pete LaRoca 'Basra' (BN NY USA stereo)
  7. Aggggggh More nightmares from the 1970s past. Memories of really bad Saturday night TV !
  8. For a so-called rarity of 500 presings there are a lot of these coming up at the moment on ebay. Is this like some sort of variation of baseball card trading?
  9. Grant Green 'Green Street' (BN NY USA mono)
  10. Keith Jarrett 'Still Live' (ECM 2LP). Another lovely trio performance.
  11. Yep ! This band packed a mighty punch, with the likes of Kenny Wheeler, Ack Van Rooyen etc. in the various lineups. Their MPS album covers always seem to feature fizzing dynamite on the front - very fitting ! Don't miss that recent DVD on the 'other site' taken from German TV.
  12. David Bellamy David Attenborough Dr Crippin
  13. Thought I'd managed to erase all memory of this one. Apparently not. "Max Bygraves literally used to terrorize British people with his "music" in the sixties and seventies. One of the most traumatic moments of my childhood was when I had to sit with my parents and watch his whole live performance. I still haven't recovered." And tracks from this gem are going on my next BFT.
  14. This looks hard to beat - German pressing not withstanding..
  15. Dave Liebman 'Lookout Farm' (ECM) John Abercrombie 'Timeless' (ECM)
  16. Julian Priester Pepo Mtoto 'Love, Love' (German ECM)
  17. Thad & Mel 'Potpourri' (Philly International)
  18. Just cracking up - had forgotten that one !
  19. Lon Armstrong Rooster Ties Stereojack
  20. The sound on the second concert is definitely inferior - seems a little more '2 dimensional' to me compared with the more expansive studio dynamics on the first Belgian concert. Great DVD !
  21. Johnny Griffin Orchestra 'The Big Soul Band' (Riverside). Blue/white reel UK Interdisk pressing inside a US sleeve !
  22. 'Lenny McBrowne and the 4 Souls' (Pacific Jazz DG stereo). With Don Sleet and Daniel L. Jackson.
  23. Many congrats - would like to have seen this !
  24. You sure they're not? Should be OK with a bit of salt.
  25. Planters dry roast for me. Just about to crack open a pack !
